Ok, I got my Ap off of Amazon back in 2012, as far as I remember that was the date. I'm out at this point and wanted to order more, no luck! Amazon used to have 90 micron ap available. Where are you getting yours? Pyroachemsource? And has it raises any concerns, as far as getting it? I have no clue why Amazon no longer offers it, but I can only imagine. Anyway always enjoy your videos Brother !
@cranialconstruction2218 Жыл бұрын
Yes, Amazon has stopped carrying some of these chemicals. Especially those that can be used in pyrotechnics, rocket engines, etc. I first got mine there several years ago and that's what I'm using in the video. When I need to reorder I'm not entirely sure where it will come from, but a chemical warehouse is high on the list.
@chemistryofquestionablequa6252 Жыл бұрын
@@cranialconstruction2218pyrochemsource is where my AP came from via Amazon so I'll just order directly from them next. I'm almost out, used most of it for energetic perchlorate complexes.

Is this how to do the solid rocket Ammonium perchorite Almiunium powder Silicon Magnesium Mixed al of them and then use Is that true ?
@cranialconstruction2218 Жыл бұрын
Yes, that is correct. You do need to mix in the right ratios for it to work properly. Also, it is silicone used, not silicon. They are two different things.
How to make ammonium perchlorate pls, because thailand don't sell and video you very cool😊

3 KClO4 + 8 Al → 3 KCl + 4 Al2O. The stoichiometric ratio is 34.2% aluminum and 65.8% perchlorate by mass. A ratio of seven parts potassium perchlorate to three parts dark pyro aluminium is the composition used by most pyrotechnicians

Is it possible to delute the silicone with acetone, for the purpose of mixing and pouring? And after it evaporates,......... It would make it easier to pour into a tube with a rod wrapped in cellophane, or thin coat of Vaseline.

Interesting idea. Silicone doesn't dissolve well in acetone, but does in xylene and toluene.

where can i buy ammonium perchlorate at cheap site
@cranialconstruction2218 Жыл бұрын
That's a difficult question. By nature, AP is expensive stuff. AP is sold in large quantities most often so finding sellers of smaller amounts is key. Amazon has fair prices and allows purchases of smaller amounts, less than 0.5 kg.

For anyone that wants to make the real stuff, HTPB resin is available for purchase at the RCS Store online, I got a gallon of it last year and still have 90% of it left even after making dozens of rockets. It's not the cheapest stuff (about $250/gallon including the catalyst) but the difference it makes over silicone is huge, it has a much more stable burn and is far easier to mold into grains, and provides more thrust as well. If you dont live in the US you're shit out of luck unfortunately, the RCS Store doesn't ship outside of the lower 48.

Casing too weak - a thin plastic tube cannot withstand the pressure being created. Also (and related to first point), your nozzle is too small! Even a PN/sugar motor generates 60 to 72 atmospheres of pressure (about 1000psi)!
@cranialconstruction221811 ай бұрын
Yep. This was a video on firsts. Just to see if an APCP fuel could be made from over the counter silicone. To find the best ratios. And then to try and launch an engine. I had no idea that the thrust would be that significantly stronger than anything I had worked with to this point. I will make an updated video now that I have worked with this fuel (quite a bit since this video just testing) and have some experience.
