I used two hair banana shaped cushions from Little Bits Historical on Etsy for the back and sides. The front middle section was just curled inwards with my fingers and pinned with some bobby pins. This creates some nice fullness in the back and sides but not too much that I can't get my hat to sit properly!

beautiful set. great job. how are you pronouncing soutache? it took me a bit to figure out what you were using because i've always heard it pronounced "soo tash".

Now that you say that I think that's how it's pronounced too. I just say it so rarely out loud that I forgot sometimes. 😆
