Thank you! I am so happy for myself and for Ruby that it turned out so well. It's weird, I never go into any of my projects with a plan. Obviously I have never made an Edward Scissorhands costume before, but you just have to keep a positive attitude toward it and keep at it until it finally comes together (even though sometimes I wanted to throw it into the parking lot and run it over with my car)

So effing epic! Your costume and Ruby’s performance just sublime! I love pop culture themed burlesque. Went and saw The Empire Strips Back a couple of years back. One of the best shows ever! But truly. Sewing goals. I mean, that costume is a work of art AND didn’t malfunction. Having made my fair share of costumes in the past, I understand your butterflies watching the performance.

I was actually surprised that I was nervous during her performance; I didn't expect that of myself at all. But I was so relieved it went so well for her. Ruby is insanely talented, so there really wasn't any reason to be nervous about it. And it's funny, when I watch this video back, it really doesn't convey the amount of time and effort I spent on this costume! But the video turned out pretty long as it is, so I am glad in a way that I didn't include anything else!

Yes! If you can't wear a holographic ballgown and frock coat to a burlesque show, then where can you wear it? And thank you! That Edward Scissorhands was A LOT of work, but I was quite pleased with the way he turned out!

Amazing, and inspirational stuff Miss E ! I'm in the process of making a costume for my eight year old son. This video has certainly given me the impetus to continue. We're going to a comic-con in July. He's going as a monster called 'The Projectionist' from the Bendy and the Ink Machine computer game. It's far less elaborate than your creation of course and I'm building it totally out of recycled junk. So far, it's a fun build. Needless to say, I'm in awe of your skills !

Well thank you! I have built quite a lot of things out of weird junk and rusty metal (which you can see in my Postapocalyptic Fashion Show playlist) and it's always very interesting to be able to use things to make something completely different than what they were originally intended as. It makes you think more creatively and more "outside the box" than you might otherwise and that's really cool! I hope your costume turns out well. I am sure you will have a blast at Comic Con!

Thank you! What a lot of work it was! I only took breaks to do other things (like write letters) when I got frustrated with it, so I needed to do something else for awhile. I am both happy and sad that it is over!

Thsnk you! I was especially nervous about making the gloves, since I had never worked with Worbla before, but I am actually really glad that I had to learn it for this project, because now it's another skill that is going to come in very useful for making other things in the future.

I tried to get it done as early as possible for her, so she would have time to practice and rehearse in it, but it ended up being so much work that she really only had one week to put together that amazing performance. Wow. You are satan’s seamstress! You are just so talented! I went out as Edward Scissorhands 30 yrs ago, & you put my outfit to shame! My scissorhands were awesome tho, I dismantled real scissors & attatched them to 2 layers of leather gloves. I also won 1st prize, yay me. I do hope she loves your work as I do, also your use of magnets is very clever, I like!

Miss E Lol, sadly there are no pics, but it was very basic. Black turtleneck, black jeans, black boots and a fuckton of belts. My hair was already the required style, lol. My scissorhands turned out quite well (real scissors) & were the best part, but started to fall apart the more I drank. This is probably why your job is to create, & mine is to sell. 😉
