Awww, thank you so much! And yes, Brodie is quite proficient with his fan; It's basically attached to his hand all summer. It's not just a fashion statement, but it's actually really useful for keeping him cool too.

I wear caftans all the time after getting out of the shower, or throwing one on after getting out of the pool. They're great for just lounging around in in the summer as well when it's so hot out. I live in northern AZ, but it gets pretty toasty here, but not as bad as in the southern part of the state. I even wear caftans to bed. They're so comfy. I have maybe 10 or 12 of them, all different colors and patterns. Mine are store bought though, mostly from Ross. The one you made is very pretty. (Jan Griffiths).

As a kid in the summers I had a pink terry cloth caftan with my swim suit over it! Also great for drying off after a shower! Love the Caftan but I can save you a few minutes....Just let the serger cut the selvedge! Unless yours doesn't have the cutting feature on it I guess. Haha! Love it!

Thank you for the suggestion! My serger does cut fabric, but sometimes it decides to make me angry and jam my fabric when I try to make it do that. So I usually play it safe and just cut the edges off myself, so as not to tempt fate! I swear there is no rage in the world like serger rage!

It definitely would! I love taking heavily printed fabrics that I feel are "too loud" for me to make myself clothes out of and turning them into pillowcases. I have a whole bunch of mismatched random print pillowcases and I love it.

If you want a more fitted look you can sew elastic from rib cage to the other rib cage or under the bust. you have to sew the outer edge closer to the body tho. Brody was prepared for that shot and I loved it.

Thank you for this caftan tutorial! I actually purchased 4 of these a few years back on ebay. They are really comfy and great to wear during the summer months. I ordered all of mine in black and the seller on ebay messaged me asking me if this was a mistake ordering soooooo many in black..lol.. I love them even though the fabric was black rayon and they have to be washed gently and line dried. I'm happy you mentioned how goths should start wearing these. I came from the 80's & 90's goth scene and I remember how we use to find or make Asian inspired clothing in black and caftan's were items we loved to wear. They are great with creating gothic boho outfits or to wear around the house or sleep in. Now I have no excuse to not make one since I've seen your tutorial video..lol.. Thank you again ♡

Your sewing videos always inspire me! I’ve been wanting to try sewing my own cosplays, but I’m terrified of ruining fabric. I never know where to start.

It is a bit scary sometimes to cut into fabric when you're not quite sure what you're doing, but that's the only way to learn is by TRYING IT! Almost everything I make these days is an experiment. There are no patterns for the things that I make, so most of the time I just have to "figure it out". Sometimes I mess up. Sometimes I would do it differently next time. But that's all just part of learning. Also, if you are really worried, you can always make a practice copy (mock up) out of something cheap like broad cloth, then take it apart and use it as a kind of pattern for cutting out your good fabric once you are happy with it.

Serging is a sort of binding that finishes seams inside of clothing. If you look inside any of your shirts or pants(other than tshirts) you will see the seams have multiple threads looping over them and holding them together. That is serging. Sergers are complicated and expensive machines that take 4-5 spools of thread usually. Every time I have to re-thread my serger it makes me get serious sewing rage.
