Great result. Love it. Stars at night. As I suspected, You cannot see the optic fibers inside the resin. So next time you use black resin, put the cable tie inside the resin. It will not show in the final product.

Ancient astronomers had vivid imaginations to see what they saw with a couple dots in the sky. I saw fibre optics used in a cars roof lining for a starry sky effect. I think your take was a pretty decent effort.

Ben, I watch several chans that work with resin, and they are all great in their own rights, but you, sir, come up with some OUTSTANDING ideas that almost always turn out stunningly beautiful or masterclass.
@RandomBogey2 жыл бұрын
I’ve been trying to come up with something to do with fiber optics and resin for awhile now and just the other day was wondering how I could incorporate fiber optics into a resin lightbulb mold I have. Kind of a weird coincidence you publish this video now after I’d just been thinking about it. Not sure how much it would apply to this project, but a good way to bundle fiber optics is to use a tube of black heat shrink. It holds them tightly together, instead of a single point like a zip tie where they fray out in every which way when cut, and it makes the bundle more like a rod and a lot easier to cut a nice flat condensed surface for the light to hit. The astrological signs on the black background is a really cool concept, though. Personally, I think I would’ve used either a color changing LED to make the stars change colors or a flickering tea light candle LED to make the stars twinkle. If you wanted to get really crazy, you could bundle the fibers together by sides, put black heat shrink around each individual bundle, cut them all flat, and use heat shrink to attach a color changing LED to each bundle. The black heat shrink would isolate each LED so that the light doesn’t bleed together, then wire all four LEDs together. They’ll all start the same color, and changing at similar rate, but they’ll fall out of sync with each other pretty quick and all four sides would be a different color. Would love to see another fiber optic resin idea

This was really cool my friend! I can only imagine what that looked like in person. I think that if you were to cut the wire and add a dimmer to it, you might be able to make less bright at night :)

My parents in the early 1970’s had a glass fiber optic lamp where the individual strands were tightly joined at one end and allowed to flower out on the other. The bound end was attached right above a turning multi colored wheel that had a gradient color film and A C9 bulb under that. The “umbrella” of fiber optics turned independently giving a beautiful effect at night. Early 1970’s, so yes it can be done.
@hikariizuki16932 жыл бұрын
I think if you make the cube with mostly see through color like purple or blue, then add black to that it could look better even when the LED is off. And when it is on, you can see the line of light forming going from the base towards the constellation. With this you can maybe form the lines so it looks like tree or something else
