Safety tip for the chop saw, don't ever cross your arms. Person in the video had bulk of the board on the right, held the board with the left, operated the saw with the right. This sets you up to where you can (though unlikely) end up chopping your arm/hand. Much better to hold the board with the hand on that side, and operate with the other.

@alodelore9597
@alodelore9597 Жыл бұрын
What? I really don't understand what you are trying to say, but I'd love to understand. Do you mean, stand by one side of the saw only? That would make it super awkward and thus way more dangerous I think. I don't know where you saw them crossing arms.. ther person crossed the cuttingline after the blade was already still and covered, as one should do. Or so I thought.
@michaelsorensen7567
@michaelsorensen7567 Жыл бұрын
@@alodelore9597 for one example, about 0:45, cutting the miter. I'm not reaching a whole video from 3 months ago to see if there are other examples. Workpiece is on the right hand side, held with the left hand, and saw is operated with right hand. If the workpiece is on the right hand side, it should be held with the right hand, and the saw operated with the left hand. This minimizes the (admittedly slight, but still) possibility of cutting into your arm with the saw. You can of course cut with the workpiece on the left side of the blade, in such case hold it with your left hand and operate the saw with your right hand.
@arkufahl
@arkufahl 9 ай бұрын
It's dangerous to have an unsupported piece between a stop block and the blade. A pinch point is created between two immovable objects (stop block and blade) leaving the unsupported/movable piece to go flying when the blade catches it. Plus, because that piece is part of the finished project, you risk damaging it when it goes flying. It isn't a guarantee this will happen every time (as the video illustrates, it can be okay), but its a guarantee it'll happen eventually. You should always hold onto the portion that is against the stop block. If there isn't enough room for your hand to safely be there to hold it, long pieces of wood (or a pencil, for example) can be used to hold the piece.

Very nice this lamp with the glue sticks, nice work. Could you tell me the reason for the passage in the water of your glue sticks, I admit I do not understand the reason, is it to make them more "transparent" than they were or is there another reason that escapes me?

Probably to soften them. Glue sticks are stiff but after the water bath, they were more pliable.
