How much is "a bit"? and do you can it? We LOVE horseradish mustard and our horseradish bed is beginning to resemble Audrey in "Little Shop of Horrors"

teri mckinney...I purchased the yellow seeds a while back and notice them every time I open the cupboard door...so I went out and looked for the brown...found them and decided to actually make my own mustard...Yes it isn't difficult at all!

This looks great. I really need to go through your older videos. Ordered mustard seeds from that "has everything" online store.😉 I even got some black seeds...may add 1T of those for part of the yellow. We like spicy. Thank you, Toni. Enjoy your vacation.

Have you opened, tasted, and found this to be true of the mustard you prepared in this video? I'm wanting to try some mustard but don't want it terribly spicy. Thank you Toni!
@HerHomesteadSkills
@HerHomesteadSkills 2 жыл бұрын
Roxanne Sears..If you are aiming for less spicy, the yellow seeds are the least spicy, then the brown more so and the black even spicier...so you can start with just yellow seeds only or a much smaller percentage of brown seeds to determine if you like that flavor...use warm water and perhaps adjust the liquid by decreasing the water and increasing the vinegar content...keep the same ratio of liquid to seed mixture...Hope this helps!!!

Not sure what I am doing wrong. Twice I have tried making mustard. One time thicker and one time thinner. Each time I made 3 8 oz and one 4 oz jar. Both times two lids blew off. Jars did not break. I de bubbled first time 1/4 head space second 1/2 head space. Any ideas? I make sure that the rings were finger tight.
@HerHomesteadSkills

that's odd...try a different brand of lids maybe? I gave up on the "snaptite" brand sold at Dollarama...they buckled!

HI. WHAT IS THE PURPOSE OF ADDING VINEGAR TO THE WATER
@HerHomesteadSkills
@HerHomesteadSkills 9 ай бұрын
Good question...It prevents the minerals in the water from adhering to the outside of your jars and giving them a cloudy appearance.
