Geoffrey invited me to use that chipper and the press..hus later chipper was made of butter knives welded to a drywall mud drill that fit into a converted washing machine drum.. I made 50 gallons of juice in about an hour. Well worth it..fast..lots of wasps but you get used to them.. it was Such a great unit. I mean the guy made it work in mysterious ways..

One of the best homemade juice presses I've seen. Nice work.

Just wondering what kind of bugs those were at the 3 minute mark that you wrapped up in your nylon mesh? Do they add to the flavor or do you not really notice? Seriously, a fun video. You are ingenious and have a great sense of humor. Thanks.

The grinder attachment was basically hand made by the press owner...the chute is all stainless steel, and the grinder blade was also custom manufactured. It pretty much chews up apples as fast as you can cram them in there.

Wasps probably....depending on the outdoor temperature there's sometimes dozens of them hovering around, though they're not aggressive at all. And yes as much as you try and shoe them away when folding up the mesh, there is inevitably a few that end up being mashed in the mix...a little extra protein for the cider.

I liked this video, but mostly I liked your masterful grasp of the english language and I quote - "tasty, wholesome booze". Yer a man after me own heart. Cheers!

Why not? The raw apple juice is pasturized before canning or freezing (some people would drink it raw without further processing, but I would prefer not to take that chance), and the portion that is made into hard cider is fermented. The whole point is that you don't need a gigantic commercial facility to make your own juice.

Gurt if you do a lot of apples like maybe you press a 1,000 gallons I got a lot better idea. You take heavy I beams and weld sides on them you space them so a truck could drive over them. You weld I beams in the middle with a that will press into a recessed heavy pan You have heavy truck springs on one side and when you drive the truck over it the springs rise the I beams up and you remove the pressed apples. We did this a few years back we had a six wheel truck and she weighed 35,000 pounds

Of course you know those juicers on tv if you made one but it was big and you could put 4 or 5 apples down the chute at one time. Those old timely ways are neat, but the modern shit is better

I'm making a ramp and a press you drive a truck on. I have about forty apple trees and we take half of them and make apple juice. But we've always given the pressed apples to a hog farmer, but it's a freeby. This guy feeds his hogs for free. So were going to press the apples with a truck. I believe I'll have springs that bring one end up a couple feet. As the truck goes up the ramp this pan mashes the apples. I believe I you just mashed whole apples t would be more lain juice than all the mash

When you make apple juice and jar it how long will it last?
@Glurt12 жыл бұрын
You can use it for garden compost, but you have to add a lot of wood ash to neutralize the acidity somewhat.

Do you think you could add a video of how the grinder was made?
@Glurt9 жыл бұрын
countrieboyz2009 The grinder was hand-built by a friend of mine with all stainless steel, the blade is very similar to what you would find in a blender. There is a narrow slot at the bottom of the chamber, and the apple pulp is swept out by the motion of the blades. Perhaps I can get some more video footage of the grinder during this next apple season.

I don't think I'd like to have to deal with that many apples (or hundreds of gallons of juice at a time)....right now we do maybe 3-400 pounds at a time, process and can some juice the next day, and whatevers left over goes into the fermenters for cider.

Couldn't you take the dried apples that were mashed and dried them out and add some nuts and make some kind of nutritious bar of delicious stuff
