Is the text file of the L-System "cheat sheet" available somewhere (you mentioned about sharing it in the video) I couldn't find it anywhere here or on Vimeo. Thanks for putting this together, very good.

hi everyone. it is my 2nd week with houdini, and i have a question regarding L-systems. I have been spending my last 2 days learning how it works, and i think it is a very clunky system. I am familiar with speedtree. So my question is, am i wasting my time learning L-System in Houdini? What is it used for, really? Do big studios use Houdini's L-system to make trees, or they just simply use Speedtree for that? I am asking this because time constraint. If i did not have that i would gladly learn the L-System. But if in real life situation nobody uses it to make trees, i dont want to waste my time learning it on Houdini. Thanks in advance

There’s no real need to learn l-systems. Houdini has a nice tree building tool in the lab tools that does a pretty decent job , there are also a couple of tree plugins that you can purchase for Houdini. or you can always use speed tree and import that into Houdini. L-systems can have other uses like building ornamental designs but that a very specific use case. I’ve also seen people build biped rigs and other stuff with l-systems but it’s a very niche area. You can always come back to this when you are more comfortable with Houdini.
