Hey folks, sorry for the wait! Here is the video on Baby Yoda's hand armature and how I broke the mold. Yep. Anyway... Ask questions and I'll answer down in the comments.

Brilliant sculpture! I'm in the process of making my own, when I say I'm the process I mean 3 failed attempt so far ha ha! This has inspired me to continue, so thanks!

For us rookies watching the process, with only a wee bit of understanding... I am guessing there's a specific reason for using the brown colored clay for both your original sculpture, and the melted/poured duplicate (didn't know you could even melt clay with heat!), and the green clay to make the spacers for the joints and to support the brown stuff when making the plaster mold. I've only done a little bit of casting to make small, rigid objects, and learned the hard way my originals had to be made from a specific kind of clay, or they'd prevent the mold-making material from solidifying (for those objects, my mold release was just plain baby powder). The extra text comments added, could explain a bit more on the molding and casting process - similar to explanations on how you built the armature. Also - how come the outer skin was mixed and applied as green, while the inner stuff looked like it would be grey when set?

Sorry for the delay getting back. Yes, the brown clay is a chavant and works like a chocolate; that is it’s hard and carves well, but you can melt it by putting it in the microwave. It gets soft at 60 degrees. The green clay is also a non-sulfur oil clay but is very very soft and just peels away from the plaster, fiberglass or silicone.

To get the right color for his skin, I wanted a green pigment for the outer skin and the inner foam to be pinkish gray like body tissue. It gives the illusion of green skin over red blooded tissue. Yoda and the baby have a lot of reds and yellows

Made In Japan Interesting! I originally thought the outer layer stuff would be perhaps more translucent, and the goal was to use the inner layer stuff that was more opaque, to hide the armature. Seeing all the wires and stuff under his skin, would be nearly as disturbing as the beheading!

Ive been waiting to watch this all week, and boy did it not disappoint. fantastic work as always mate! Ive been meaning to ask, what was your initial clay brand for the sculpt? Id usually assume it was monster clay, but your product looks a slightly different colour, and im all for learning about new products! Id actually be interested to know how product availability differs in Japan to america or Australia. for example, what brand of stone were you using for the moulds? on another note, really enjoyed the new editing style for the video, it's working well and looking and sounding great. and nice apple split! I look forward to the next vid, keep up the great work mate!

Watching through the video again, i think its my screens colour which is making the clay colour look off. Id put good money on it being Monster, i now await for the world to decide to contradict my judgement! ;)

Haha, it’s basically a Japanese knockoff of Monster clay. Well, no, that’s not fair. It’s a Japanese industrial clay, basically Chavant. “NS 60” Monster clay is a designers chavant. It’s insanely expensive here. This stuff isn’t much cheaper, but I have tubs of it. How much is it there in OZ? Thanks for the feedback. I’m still working on the edits and thinking pretty hard lately about more of a speak, show, speak, show style. I’ve have a few people ask some questions that I realized I could have easily explained had i taken two minutes. Gonna have to make a script from here on out. Haha. Hah, Taz started laughing in the edit after seeing me split the apple. He said it’s kinda of distracting. Just something I learned from, my grandmother I think...

Made In Japan I’m gonna have to learn to do that Apple split, it was honestly great. Huh, very interesting on the topic of the clay, I know we also have a few knock off brands here, but they just don’t have the same feel as monster, they leave too much oil residue for my liking. A regular tub of monster costs about 70 to 120aud here in Aus, it’s not cheap, but it helps if there is a prop specific product store in your area, which I fortunately do at the moment, so I can get it on the lower side of the price range, which is quite helpful, and saves shipping price add ons too.

Made In Japan that’s neat. I didn’t know you could do that with silicone casting!

Rheaya Devist plaster or fiber glass work, you can even use a silicone mold

@@jeditsuyoshi That's crazy. I'm also working on a project in silicone. So I made one mistake already. Not wanting to make another.
