This was just a quick test to show a feature of the EQ I got. There are other things it can do but I was surprised it worked first time round.

this is exactly what bose does to make their little 4 inch drivers sound good, lol thats why their speakers only sound good when used with their own systems
@tommyb.6064
@tommyb.6064 5 жыл бұрын
The fact is that a passive crossover could do the same corrections for those 4 inch drivers.. but it would be so large and complicated with tons of passive components that it would probably not fit inside the small box itself.

The old school 4.5 inch full range terracotta colored cone bose full range drivers already sounds pretty good from the get go. Gives a proper illusion of a seperate tweeter and woofer. Earlier bose car audio systems sound better.

Semi unrelated comment ahead... Piezo tweeters can sound good when implemented correctly. Most cheapie PA speakers usually just connect the piezo tweeter directly without any kind of crossover whatsoever. Shorting a 22 ohm resistor across the positive and negative and adding a 4 - 4.7uf capacitor on the positive lead will usually smooth out any piezo tweeter, unless they are suuuuuper cheap, Or you could EQ them like in the video ;)

True that. But yet there is another big problem if connecting two different kind of horns together (small and bigger piezo horns), without crossing them differently. One thing for good speaker: never use different drivers for same frequences/band or there will be troubles. It may cause huge dips and peaks to the response. Thank you for your videos, I really do like! :)

the smaller "tweeter" in that junk speaker is actually a 1-2$ piezo job. Cheapest possible tweeter... As you can expect, its total junk

I recently took a pair of Bose 501s IV and put in all new drivers and crossovers. Basically made a whole new speaker using old cabinets. Sounds really good but once I apply an external EQ, man those speakers come to life!

@@MyStonerMind420 I'm listening to your speakers through my speakers! It works very well. When you've treated the sound it sounds just right through neutral monitors. However, my disco speakers are terribly top heavy and these are good tips to remedy this :)

I have a pair of PA speakers, each with 3 of those "bullet" round piezo's in them and they don't sound too bad....for a PA. I also know the sound from that flatter horn piezo on top. You just can't get natural sound from that thing no matter how hard you try. If that speaker just had a 3 or 4 inch midrange cone driver instead of that nasty plastic horn, I bet it would sound much better after the EQ unit gets done with it. I would have liked to hear the fancy speaker under the cheapie one just for fun too.
@t-rodshader9593
@t-rodshader9593 5 жыл бұрын
it sounded much more whole, I've been good at getting nice responses out of eqs but the AEQ seems to do fairly decent as well, I just don't like the sound of those horns, they have a harsh brightness, I'd prefer a real good soft dome, paper, mylar, titanium, or like infinity with polycell tweeters, very few horns have a smooth sound, and they are usually just peizo horns, n but I liked the video, and wondered what your opinion is on tweeters personally? I have been watching alot of your vids and I enjoy your time in making them thanks
