4 years ago, I recorded samples that I created on a couple of synths that I owned before I sold them. Then I forgot about those samples until I saw this video which reminded me that Pigments has capabilities for loading samples. So after watching this video I loaded one of my samples into Pigments which I labeled "Brutal Saw". Man, it sounds like a Trance monster synth. Absolutely useable. Thanks for the reminder.

Great video, very inspiring! I've had Pigments for about a year now and I've got to say, it's a fantastic synth! The depth of this thing is amazing. The sample editor alone is really powerful and then stack wavetables and analogue style synths on top? Just, wow.

Automating the attack is a pretty badass sound design trick, but the button "Att Curve" below the attack knob does the same thing except easier and with more control and visual feedback :) Dope video though, can't wait to learn everything about this synth!

Omg, Arturia got me. They dropped a free VST effect for Christmas, the Plate Reverb. Of coarse that's what drew me in so that Pigments could catch my eye. Well played Arturia! After playing with the demo for 3 hours, I knew that I was going to take advantage of the discounted holiday price. Maybe I'm honeymooning? But this is one of the best synthesizers I have ever used, which includes Massive and Serum. Omg Pigments is beyond amazing!

Everybody wants to make generic pop. You've got probably the most versatile sound making technology here and nobody ever wants to go Throbbing Gristle with it.

I notice in Ableton you've got quite a few instances of Pigments. I can't imagine you've loaded so many as it would kill the Cpu..? How have you done it please.. Great vid by the way. Thanks.

richard irons I've got a quad core i7 and 16 gb of ram. (2016 15' mbp). Cpu will vary from machine but I've found this update to be better. Also I'm only using one sample engine on most of the instances.

Great review! Perhaps someone (if not the uploader) can explain why he moved the snare sample slightly to the left? Was that to make it sound less "midi-ish?"

I can see the sampler feature (A-F)... I´ve tried to find the answer, but im wondering if the sampler can form 'transform' to the sequencer, IE make the sequencer into a drum-machine?

D B L R yeah, or I just looked on the surface, and it was not possible.
@CStoph197911 ай бұрын
@@nyrrard Whatever sound is loaded into the sampler engine, is what the sequencer uses to trigger notes. This seems like basic function, maybe I don't understand your question properly. Also this is years late.

@AngryOscillator5 жыл бұрын
@@Lucie_PinkBandit Haha walk through? Mate you'd need a guided tour, it gets deeeeeeeep. Depends on your DAW, your work flow, your plugins, your sound card, your buffer size, what else is running in the background, internal controls shuttling information packets about (USB controllers, PCI controller, Sata ect.), chip instruction sets, instruction sets of the software you use (is avx512 really a good thing?). Also depends on what you are doing. Is 16 cores relevant for most music people? Depends. Are you running a few channels with a high cpu overhead? may want to get less cores with a higher clock speed. Doing orchestral mixdowns? Get some cores behind you. 😊 welcome to the rabbit hole.

Why anything? If all you want is basic sampler functions then yeah, stick with Ableton stock. If you want anything Pigments has to offer then, err.... get pigments?
