Making Birkenstocks Except they're Coasters

I had an idea to put soles on the bottom of leather coasters, and I wear Birkenstocks...so here we are! To avoid any trademark issues, I want to be very clear I misspelled Birkenstock on purpose and these are NOT for sale, ever.
Anywho, that little circle die really pulled it's weight in this project. Buckleguy also sells a whole slew of precut coaster sets if you check out that first link - this turned out to be a super fun and quirky project, a great one to make as a gift if you have an birk/boot lovers in your life or want to get a little experience gluing soles to leather or cork. No stitching is required on these but the new Dunmore thread looks so nice I think it really adds a nice touch. Happy Crafting :)

This is the definition of a 'Visual Pun'. Who would recognize the pattern on the sole if they didn't 1) work on Birkenstocks or 2) be a big fan of the brand. Eric, I admire you cleverness with the metal shim under the press to finish the cut. Leatherwork = Problem solving.

Why not punch out the outsole material and then glue it to the leather/cork part? Wouldn't this be much easier?

I know this is an old video but any chance would the cork board be better than a foam board for purses. I see people using foam board but can never get a concrete answer of where to get it.

What site did you go to order the Birkenstocks sole panel I went to there site typed in for a sheet it kept just showing shoes please let me know I want to order some and the cork 1:37

While making these coasters after gluing the cork to the leather ,I set it aside to dry after rolling out .Did you have a problem with glue soaking through or a sweating? I set it leather down to dry and when I picked it up the face of leather was wet . Thank you for advise
