Fine tool and nicely done. A small hole, drilled 90%, (1/8" or smaller) at the deep end of your shaft hole allows excess glue and air to escape when inserting your shaft to handle. This makes assembly a lot easier and assures that the shaft is seated all the way down. (It looked like you struggled to get the shaft to seat), thought this might be helpful. Mark

Great job. You could have drilled a small whole at the bottom of your shaft hole to allow excess air to escape allowing the shaft to go in easier. Nice build.

Well done. A question, you are using 3/8 square steel stock. What is the size of the carbide insert? Another question, how long is the handle and total length of the tool?

Great job. Thanks. I’m guessing that oak is a cheap wood to buy for your area. Using a nice 12x12inch solid piece for a glue up base and your work bench is solid oak as well.🙂

I can't speak to his, but I made my own years ago with some stainless rod I found at Ace Hardware. You can use mild steel, but you my have to contend with rust.

red58impala I made mine out of steel you get at the big box store then after I had it the way I wanted it ( drilled cut) etc I heat treated it with map gas and quenched it in oil. Run the tap through it again and it was perfect.
