I've heard of casein being used for jointing and as a wood sealer. What do you use it for?
@antonsomersviolins94524 жыл бұрын
I used it for both.

Is there a way to preserve this kind of glue? If there is, can you please specify the ingredients to use and the amount needed as well
@antonsomersviolins94529 ай бұрын
No , there is not. Keep it in the fridge. Best to make it fresh every time.

Could you actually show us how strong/reliable a joint it would make for example on neck joint compared to regular hide glue please?
@jjay-p6p3 ай бұрын
Hide glue is hygroscopic, meaning it never loses its ability to reabsorb water. Casein does not do this as readily. Hide glue is used when restoration will become necessary at some point - it is a more reversible glue. Casein is very strong.

It's been awhile. Yes, you can just add a handful, make it as thick or thin as you want.

Or at least measuring in weight the resulting curd. 1/2 ts of lime for what? 5 tons of cheese 2 microgram of cheese?
@philippewatel43933 жыл бұрын
Forgetting the original volume of milk makes this recipe USELESS
