I wonder if rolling the extruded coils (instead of 'smooshing') would work?

I smoosh only because I like the crackly pattern formed around the edge of the disc. If I were to roll and cut, I’d only get smooth edges that would then need further smoothing out to finish them. There are so many ways buttons can be made! This way is just the method *I* settled on.

It’s coated multi-strand beading wire, found in the craft store jewelry department.
