Don't worry about those cobwebs. In the dark you cannot see them. I just had cateracts done and found cobwebs in each room. Worse still I now can see my wrinkles. I have to figure out who that lady is in the mirror staring back at me. Was quite a shock!

I make Dandelion Syrup out of the flowers , also a beautiful pink Red Bud Syrup from the flowers . Since Dandelions multiply like crazy , once a year , we dig a lot of the older ones up . I soak the roots overnight , then scrub them really well . Then I chop them into small pieces & roast them in the oven @ a low temperature ( about 175 ) , till totally dry . The drier they get , the more they will smell like ROASTED COFFEE ! They make a delicious , healthy coffee !

Your ladder project looks awesome, Mike. May I make a suggestion from personal experience. Climbing up round 'steps' is an unpleasant pressure on the foot, placing all one's weight in one concentrated, i.e. small area of the bottom of the foot. Perhaps you might consider installing 'flat' pieces of wood or metal or best of all, a non-slip material, so that adults will have a more secure surface to make contact with while traveling up and down, especially carrying stuff. : )

@BarradaleFarm7 ай бұрын
Ah it makes me feel so much better to see another 'real' tiny homestead home with a big family on KZbin! The reality is living in a small space is hard with lots of people. I feel you on the unexpected hiccups with extending your yurt, we are hoping to extend our yurt too with an outdoor deck and two extra bedrooms rooms before next summer, (we are in Australia so our seasons are opposite yours) but the current cost of living is prohibitive for us to even spend a few hundred to start the project. It's crazy to think that just 5 years ago, if we were on the income we are on now, we would have felt so incredibly lucky. But now we are only just scraping by. I'll be praying you are abundantly blessed with resources in which to extend your yurt.

Well, Mike, get the other Yurt up. We've only been waiting going on 2 years?
@BarradaleFarm7 ай бұрын
I suspect the challenges of waiting are harder for them then they are for you…. And unfortunately it's not as easy as just putting the second yurt up. A proper deck/platform needs to be built. I don't know what the cost of timer is like in America at the moment but our deck cost us about $3500aud to build ourselves and that was using our own hardwood logs for the stumps about 5years ago. Prices of everything here have gone through the roof with inflation, it would cost far more now. It makes it near impossible as a large single income family to make progress on big jobs.

Take vinegar and 2 paper towels. Wear gloves. Wet to near dripping the paper towels. Lay the towels straight down on the spots of toxic blisters. Keep away from eyes. DO NOT rub. Straight down and straight off only. This is removing the poison oil from your skin. Do this 4 times. Next day if needed do this again. That poison oil gets on your long sleeves and will spread the oil after you take the shirt off. Wash it in vinegar several times. Also bed sheets. Throw the towels straight in the trash they carry the poison oil. Throw the gloves away when you get done. Clean gloves each time you do this.

Can I have the recipe for your dandelion flowers?
@MikeTheFitFarmer7 ай бұрын
I collected the flowers and removed the stems, rinsed them in some cool water to make sure to get the bugs out, then I patted them dry. Next I seasoned my tapioca starch ( you can use the flour of your choice) with salt, pepper, garlic powder, onion powder, and Italian seasoning. I made an egg wash. Take the flowers and add a few to the egg wash and coat the flowers then add them to the flour and cover with flour mixture. Shake them off from the flour and fry them in a hot pan with some oil or butter until golden brown. I got tired of doing them individually because it was taking to long so I eventually made them into dandelion patties instead of just individually fried flowers. Either way they were great and my family loved them.
