Making Charcoal in a Camp Fire

So that little looking barrel could be used as a heater in a tent. Burying it in the ground, but not completely to heat the tent ? And in the end have charcoal…….

If the tent has a bottom on it I would not do that as it will probably melt or burn the bottom of your tent. The smaller cans would probably work in one of the small tent stoves you can use to cook food. I've never used one before but here is what they look like amzn.to/3Mk4dMt

It would be interesting to punch a hole through one of the can lids and use the jet from the burning wood gasses to heat a second retort. Maybe even make a ring of retorts all heating each other. That should make more efficient use of your initial fuel stock. I'm gonna visit my favorite local Italian restaurant and ask if I can have a couple of their #10 cans to make my own.
