Did he ever used it as medicine, too, because prior vaccines came ,chocolate was used as med, even still used, today, natural chocolate is also bitter as well, add sugar to it ,the ancients never knew about sugar until the 1500s they added spices to it, Cinnamon and Chocolate, is aztec Chocolate .,

My father is a cacao farmer, too, here in the philippines. Our way of fermenting the cacao seeds is by means of soaking the beans in a water. After several days, we remove the slimy parts and let it dry. When it is sun dried, we branch it, remove the shell, then grind it and the final product comes. The chocolate or what we call tableya.

Any body have a hypothesis how they change it from solid to liquid prior machines was invented.?

Why that's so amazing, make me wonder, the person who first discovered how to make chocolate, like what were they really trying to make, or add to. It would be so interesting the eureka moment, when the person come up with, and discover, new ideas, like making chocolate extra.

chess747 in South America you can buy a "chocolate drink" that is close to the original ancient way of consuming cacao. Chocolate was a "bitter drink" in good old days. I've actually been thinking about making a video on how to make "chocolate" the old old old fashioned way LOL it probably won't taste very good. there was no sugar or an abundant sugar source in South America at the time. hence the bitter drink. Mahalo for watching

They probably opened one of the fruits, tasted the beans, and decided to store them but they got fermented so they decided to try making meals and stuff I'd imagine.

The history of chocolate preparation is centuries old, but was first discovered by Europeans (specifically the Spanish explorer Cortes) almost 500 years ago in 1519, who found the Aztecs drinking it, probably in what we now know as Mexico. It was indeed a bitter drink at that time, probably used for similar purposes to modern tea or coffee, since cocoa beans contain both caffeine and theobromine - the latter is basically caffeine minus a methyl group and has more or less the same effect on human metabolism. The Spanish were the first to add sugar to chocolate, and for the next few centuries it became increasingly popular throughout Europe as a sweetened hot drink. The one blot on the landscape, as it were, came in the 1600s, when some dumb-arse reactionaries started spreading rumours that consuming too much chocolate would cause women to give birth to dark-skinned babies. Proof, if you ever needed it, that organizations like Breitbart and the Daily Mail are nothing new. As you guys at H.I.S. Survival know, you need extra oil mixed into the cocoa solids to turn chocolate from a drink into a solid food. Ideally you use extra cocoa butter, which is extracted from more cocoa beans in a separate process, to make real chocolate. Though those damn charlatans at Cadburys, Mars, Nestles and Hersheys use palm oil, shea nut oil and even mango kernel oil to dilute what they laughably call "chocolate", ending up with only 20% to maximum 25% cocoa in their piss-poor imitations of the real thing. Anyway, back to history of chocolate. In 1767, Henri Christophe actually had himself anointed with chocolate syrup (yes, he really did have chocolate poured on his head in full view of a public crowd) when he was crowned King of Haiti, in order to symbolically demonstrate how important chocolate was to their economy. He probably wasn't wrong in that respect, since Haiti still produces cocoa beans today. The first recorded mention of chocolate as a solid food was in 1826, in a British medical dictionary, which described "Frys chocolate lozenges" as a "pleasant and nutritious substitute for food in travelling, or when unusual fasting is caused by irregular periods of eating". Milk chocolate came along in 1875, invented in Switzerland by adding cream to plain chocolate liquor.

@@lloydevans2900 I've been reading on that randomly lol. Didn't Cortes or some other explorer note a South American king practically drinking chocolate like it was water?
@lloydevans2900
@lloydevans2900 6 жыл бұрын
@@NickMcIntyre72 Very likely, since chocolate did begin as a drink. However, it would not have been anything like taking a modern chocolate bar, melting it and then drinking the thick and greasy results. It would probably have been more like coffee, made by infusing roasted and ground up beans with hot water. You can still experience this if you really want to: Buy a jar of unsweetened cocoa powder and stick that in an espresso or filter coffee machine. It can take a while to filter through since cocoa powder is much finer than ground coffee, but the resulting bitter liquid would be similar enough to Aztec style chocolate drink.

My grandmother taught us how to eat cacao fruit. It is slimmy. And sweet. After eating it the beans will be dried under the sun. And she will roast it. Then grind it. Until it forms into liquid chocolate. No sugar no anything. Then when the pure chocolate hardened. She will mixed it in a "champurado" choco rice. It is delish. 😋

the liquor is basically cacao nibs that has been crushed really fine and the cacao butter released turning it into a liquid state. The spinning machine is called a melanger or a wet grinder, it basically has 2 granite wheels that spins on top of a granite bottom, crushing and refining the cacao nibs and turning it into the liquor
