Hey guys, here is the first episode of the new project on the channel, a 1976 camaro! I introduced i a couple weeks back and this is the first time i'm working on it. It's my dad's car that I will be helping him build and our first step is to try to figure out how to make some fender flares. I think I figured it out, thanks for watching!

Eastwood has a kit to do this. Has set pieces of sheet metal at .5, .75, 1 inch so all 4 flares come out exactly symmetrical.

Nice video. If it was me I would have did to the aftermarket fenders. You could probably sell OEM fenders to somebody on eBay or Craigslist for double what you would have bought an aftermarket one for.

I just looked at several really nice flares done by rolling. It's nice because it's subtle, but some of them can be pretty "big".

All it can do is move that flat edge of the fender to about 45 degrees, so the amount of extra room you get is not much. Also not fun to do on a fender made of steel this thick, haha

They look good but I think you should try and smooth out the transition from the fender to and the flare you put in.

I will be once I do it to the real fenders. More grinding, a little work with a body hammer, and a little body filler and it should be perfect.

thats an awesome idea, but they seem to be too squarish, but you seem to be doing a great job :)

A very cool idea! My only question is if it makes the front fenders look a little skirted because if the pull out also pulls down, if could add to the hovercar-ish look of old American cars. Basically, if it is possible to move the body line of the arch up as well as out, it may look a little more taught.

I made sure that it didn't pull down too much, because I was afraid of that. It only came down maybe 1/4" which isn't gonna be a problem since we're gonna squeeze as much as we can under these fenders. Tire and wheel is gonna be right up to the edge.

You can rent a tool to flare the metal ON the car. I saw one that bolted to the wheels. I have seen a guy use a wooden baseball bat too. No welding or cutting. Your just reforming what's there. I've thought about trying it on a 914 because they have that rolled lip that I think would do it if you just flattened that out.

That's called a fender roller, and the most it will PULL the fender is about 5 mm or so. Will also flatten out that flip in order to get a little more room for rubber. Won't flare the fender hardly at all though.
