I wanted to make a soap in using a technique that I did when I first started experimenting with a technique that Amy Warden (from the Soap Challenge Club) named "The Clyde Slide". When I was playing around with the experimental batches sometimes the resulting swirls were very fussy and busy. I found that after the soap was poured like a funnel pour in a bowl, that there were many ways to pour it into the mold. Likewise, the funnel-like pours into the bowl could also be poured to the side of the pouring spout or perpendicular to the spout so that the soap batter could exit like crescents from the top of their arches. (It's hard to explain without pictures). But in the case of this soap, I'm pouring it like I did when I made my Moringa Mint soap. I'll leave a link to that at the end of the video.
The pouring technique I use in this soap (pouring in the mold at the center of the mold) creates a more open design that varies greatly from bar to bar. A variation of the pour is to fill the bowl similarly down the side of the bowl (positioned at 3 O'Clock, with the spout at 12 O'Clock), but moving the pour back and forth down the length of the loaf mold. In any case, it's a technique that I think is worth playing with.
For Desert Rose, I toned down the perfuminess of a rose fragrance oil with several compatible notes including frankincense, to give it more of a desert vibe. I love how this new scent smells. I echoed the fragrance treatment in the color selection. There are less bright, in-your-face birth pink with the addition of a earthy orange, another dusty red, brown and camouflage green.
The strongest color accents are in the top. For that I tapped into the desert for inspiration again, knowing how the surface of the desert can be coaxed into a colorful display after a season of spring rains.

Whoa...another stunning soap, Clyde! The color pops of the mica drizzles were absolutely perfect. I love that you said the soap becoming what it wants to be, because that's so true. Sometimes the most gorgeous designs come from the soap doing it's thing. Thanks again for another wonderful video, my friend. I'm so proud of ya. Hugz, Tree

This is a beautiful soap and the colours are also so complimentary to each other with out being predictable. I watched every soap video uploaded for two years before I mixed my first Lye mixture. There is no such thing as knowing everything about CP soap making. Australia is almost out of Fragrance oils in most of our suppliers at the moment so is little difficult to soap with the FO we really want to use sadly.

@@vibranttravelswithClyde me to Clyde, there is also a shortage of wax. But the FO is more important, and those few people that have them have increased their prices substantially which to me is sad. Stay safe and well to you and your loved ones.
