What a great crafty mom! My mom was crafty when she was alive and she passed on the best sewing fundimental foundation for me for my creativity! All creative moms ROCK!

I agree about high school! I hated it also. I went to my 40th reunion just to check if the 2-3 people I knew back then (that I liked) were still alive and I didn't recognize anyone. Love your Mom!

I love the fact you have this kind of bond with your mom. My aunt and I used to do projects together and we would learn from each other. I miss her very much.

Oh wow, I am just like your mother in that I started quilting in the 1980's and did NOT like hand quilting because it took FOREVER and I wanted to make things faster. Plus I wanted to be able to finish my works totally by myself so....thank God machine quilting came along!

I saw an antique quilt at a Museum in Doylestown, PA a few years ago, circa 1900 that was machine quilted on a treadle machine. I was amazed to learn that creators were machine quilting that long ago. I have since seen many more. Why oh why all that hand quilting in the 80s and 90s. I'm in Dave's Mom's camp. It's not for me!

Joy to the world, Dave. At least that's what you are for me. Make my day, you do. I got married in 1984 and moved to the US. That's where I learned about quilting on PBS from Eleanor Burns "quilt in a day". So i can relate a little to your mom's story. She did everything right as a mom, because you're awesome young man. Keep it up! ❤

I was married in the USA in 1975. I loved to sew by hand and create personal projects for gifts. I learned quilting like your Mom with books bought from craft stores. I still have the Quilt In A Day book by Eleanor Burns I refer to. The quilt stands and hoops “WAY back then” (lol) were troublesome just as your Mom said and made me like quilting less for a while. As a Mom myself back then you were too tired to relax at night to quilt with little ones to are for. Keep up the great videos and all your conversations. Not only are you building beautiful quilts and pin cushions, but precious memories as well🥰🧵🪡

I taught myself to quilt in the late 80s - early 90s but then I quit because I wasn’t fond of hand quilting. I started again a few years ago and own machines for machine quilting. I love it now.

My sewing room used to be off limits to my great grandchildren. They called it the "No No Room" . Now that they are 10 and 12 they sew with me. Two of them actually sew with me and one likes designing quilts and pillows, especially mine craft characters. Thanks for sharing crafting with your Mother.
