Great video! I really enjoyed watching the queen lay. I agree with your idea, the smaller spaces are easier to get growth. Perhaps I will try this next year. A 3 frame box would get both sides of the new frame drawn quicker especially if you use a larger feeder.

3 frame nuc is a great idea. This mating nuc had no purpose in fall so I tried it and it seems to work well. I already did a day 10 check and the back side that had nothing on it now has EGGS in a softball size patch of comb drawn in just 48 hrs! I plan to get to around 14 days total and put together a part 2. I fully expect both sides 100% drawn at day 14, time will tell. That is a pretty substantial resource this late in the year when you might have a hive needing drawn comb for winter stores.

I bet you start laying the feed to your big Hives they'll start drawing comb,mine always do

They would have to reach honey bound to make them draw comb and the problem is they want to swarm. These 2 frame boxes are easy to monitor for swarming and it takes much less sugar to force these little ones to draw comb.
