Making DUBSTEP in 11/8 TIME SIGNATURE! // Music Production with Neddie

Ever since Phonon's song Polyriddim came out (and now emme), I've been fascinated with weird time signatures. And being a dubstep producer, I've only ever made music in 4/4 time. People have asked me to make music in those weird time signatures, so now I'm finally getting around to it. Today, we'll be making dubstep in 11/8 time.

Sounds like you need some Neurofunk buddy. My fave producer is Current Value. He sounds very similar using alot of weird time signatures and chopped bass (i actually found this video listening to him). I recommend Consequences, Pneumatics, and Dead Communication. Very trippy and bass heavy. Then if you feel like making your face melt i recommend, his more recent release Infinite, and then an earlier one Cyclic. All of them can be found right here on the tube. 👌👌

This is awesome, I love odd time signatures. The way I'm counting this thing is: 7/8+2/4 for the first bar (1+2+3+uh1+2+) then 3/4 + 5/8 for the second bar (1+2+3+1+2+uh), and you alternate between those to track the groove. Far easier than counting 11 eighth notes haha. Would love to see other wacky stuff like this.
@NeddieOfficial
@NeddieOfficial 3 жыл бұрын

May be fitting to keep the odd timing to just certain sections, instead of the entire track. Switching back to 8/8 or 4/4 for instance. This may help provide some closure or conclusion. Very cool though. Most "prog" music, generally associated with odd time signatures, rarely stays in the same meter throughout the entire song. Subbed and look forward to more fuckery lol!
