Making End Grain Cutting Boards: Adding the Finger Grooves/Handles

This is a real speed video of adding the finger grooves/handles on one of the new end grain cutting boards. I got creative with my camera placement and I think I got a really good shot of the action on this one! They still have some sanding and oiling/waxing before they’re done but there are well on their way! And should be ready for the vendor fair at the Enfield mall in CT for next Sunday. So what router bit did you use for this operation? That would be very helpful information.

That was done with a cove bit.

@@WalterMelonsthe bit? I think it was 3/4 inch radius (1.5 inch diameter) either that or 5/8” rad. (1.25” dia). I’ll double check next time I’m in the workshop.

It would have been more helpful to have shown us how you set up your stops. Gread routing shots, though!

Thank you! Yea this video was more about getting the cool shot of the router bit in action. But the stops were simply small blocks of scrap wood clamped to the fence. Nothing fancy.
