I suggest a whip stitch and doubling over your seams if you want it to be extra secure! Blanket stitches are great for external seams since they’re very neat/ pretty and a whip stitch is fast and reliable in my opinion!

@@Cryptic.wyvern you can do them entirely by hand, anything you can do on a machine you can do by hand just so you know, it’s the other way around that sometimes doesn’t work. You actually cannot complete the wings of fire (or any other of my patterns) using ONLY the machine, i do about 60% by hand anyway!

I’m sorry but.. are you whipstitching? 😨 I know a plush probably doesn’t have to be as durable as some other things, but blanket stitch is so much stronger and only a bit more complicated. If you’re just doing it to save time then fair enough, I’ve just been trying to make a fursuit recently and have been warned against whipstitch enough that I mentally recoil at the sight of it.

@@oliverry4826 no it’s actually a whip back-stitch! (Not the kind for embroidery) it’s 3 whip stitches and then one backwards whip stitch in a repeating pattern to create a super durable seam! It’s as durable or more so than a blanket stitch in my experience

@@oliverry4826 you’re right though that whip-stitching alone can be bad for fursuits since if one loop comes undone then the whole seam can fall apart although fursuits are a very different scale to plushies, they’re more like holding a shirt together, plushies are smaller and aren’t getting abrasion damage from INSIDE (like with your body against the stitching of a fursuit). Whip-stitching is actually an amazing technique and stitch! It’s just not for ALL uses and adding a back stitch really increases the durability. So yeah idk who told you that whip-stitching is bad, it’s really good. Whip-stitching twice (one in a left to right slant direction and the other in right to left) is both stronger than blanket stitching and great for fursuits! It just takes a long time of course.
