When you get the settings right for a particular fabric, make a little sample piece and write the setting numbers on it to save. The next time you are using a similar weight/type of fabric, you can sort through your samples to find a good place to start.

Tip for your waist band, take a small scrap of fabric and sew the two ends of elastic butted up against each other and to the fabric. It will create a smoother waistband.

Hey, if the shirt you made is slipping off the shoulders, make a skinny strap with the same fabric and attach it at the collar from one shoulder to the other behind your neck. It'll keep the neck from opening up too wide and not alter the look you're going for. Nice job, BTW! I'm a fan of your work 😊

I think a simple summer skirt or dress would be nice. Or, a white shirt that would go with most shorts or skirts. A shirt that has something “extra” so it’s not a plain white t shirt. It could be something that adds a feminine touch to a pair of shorts or a summer skirt. PS I just “found” you and I love the way you teach! It’s very simple for beginners!

When copying a stretchy garment, make sure to test it's stretchyness compared to the new fabric you are using. Put a ruler on the garment/fabric, hold it down at the start of the ruler, then at the 10cm mark (or another easily calculable number) grab and stretch the fabric. If fabric that starts at 10cm stretches to 16cm, then the fabric has a 60% stretch, if it only stretches to 13cm, then it has 30% stretch, and so on. If both the old garment fabric and your new fabric have the same stretch, then the copy should fit the same, if the new fabric has more stretch it will be a more relaxed fit, if it has less stretch then the original then it will be tighter and might not fit at all if the stretch is needed. This applies to both horizontal and vertical stretch (test them both separately).
