His presentation and delivery are great, the production quality is good, and the content/builds themselves are cool and high effort/value as well.

Ik you struggled with the finished part with lots of bubbles and empty spots. As per my experience you need to add more resin and chopped carbon fibre into the mold than usual. Best indicator for that is the resin and CF should flow out of the mold while applying pressure. And yes! Great work and dont listen to those dumb who have no idea what forged CF is.

Cool. It's called Forged Carbon because of the short, chopped fiber strands. I think Lamborghini uses a heated press to form their production parts.

I think they're using the term forged because they're using clamping pressure instead of gravity or vacuum bagging. Forged steel after all is clamping pressure just really really high.

You can also add strength by laying long, continuous tows (strands) of carbon fiber along the length, and width of the part. Still, it sure turned out nice!

I'd like to put a public safety announcement for people in the comments who think they're smart that this process is in fact called forged carbon. I don't care if you disagree with the name, you didnt name it. Also anyone saying this isn't carbon fibre is double stupid, yes it is, just because it uses short fibres doesnt magically change what material it is. There was one guy who was saying that this couldn't be carbon fibre because an autoclave wasn't used... Let's take a moment to do some education. Carbon FIBRE refers to the strands of fibre, made from... Carbon! The matrix (in this case resin) doesn't mean it isn't or is a carbon fibre part, as long as it has a matrix of some kind it is a CFRP. Most carbon fibre is sold separately to the matrix, often called "dry fabric", and the resin is added to the carbon either with a brush (basic hand layup) often with additional pressure such as a vacuum or as we see in the video. Some CF, is sold with the resin already impregnated into the structure, called pre-preg, this fabric needs to be placed inside an autoclave otherwise it will not cure, as the resin must be very hot to harden quickly. If you want more information Easy Composites has a lot of knowledge out there on their website and youtube (including forged carbon fibre), so commentors can be properly informed
@mckenziekeith7434
@mckenziekeith7434 6 ай бұрын
Pretty good. I gave you a thumbs up. Pre-preg can be cured without an autoclave. But it does need to be heated up in an oven. You can vacuum bag it then cure it in an ordinary curing oven.

@touristguy87

dude, there's an old adage at play here. the more that you need to explain, the more that you sound like you're talking bullshit. in this case you said it yourself, it's a block of epoxy resin filled with chips of carbon-fiber. It's not a carbon-fiber part. It's an amalgam of carbon-fiber chips bound by epoxy resin. It's literally no stronger than the resin. It's literally like saying that a woman is your girlfriend because you exchange email with her. You know OF her. That doesn't mean that she's your girlfriend. In this case the carbon-fiber chips are not providing the main function that distinguishes carbon-fiber from other materials, they are not providing the lateral strength that carbon-fiber parts are known for. FORGED carbon-fiber? Don't even get me started. why don't you fill your mold with gold and epoxy and call it forged gold. You'd be much closer. ps yes I know what Easy Composites is. And why they don't call this "forged carbon-fiber" either. You should ask them. This is literally one of the most dumbest, most fraudulent things that I've ever seen. If you were just to wrap a sheet of proper carbon-fiber around a frame and process it properly as Easy Composites would happily assist you in doing, you'd have a proper carbon-fiber part. But no you have to try to differentiate and elevate your product. Fraudulently. Did you get a masters' degree from Trump University?

Wouldn't u press the end, clamp that spot, then move a few inches, press & clamp that spot and work ur way to the other end so that every clamped part has the psi clamped from the press? Instead of the middle having high clamping force and the ends just have however much u can turn a C-clamp by hand? Just a thought🤷‍♂️

no. it is not forget. it is compressed. forging needs temperature at 80% of melting temperature. carbon fibers do burn at 3'500 degrees celsius and do not melt. hence, carbon fiber cannot be forged. the best you can do is autoclaving.
