Every time I get confused by life and challenges I watch this "simple" guide to making furled leaders. I have watched this multiple times and have less understanding every time I see the video. Great entertainment. God Bless your efforts and you have given me years of entertainment. I wondered about your injury and have seen you are a Veteran. I was in Vietnam FEB/68-FEB/69. Thank God you are healed and healthy and in pursuit of healthy outdoor activity. Best wishes and great success to you.

I was injured on a motorcycle in 2016. I’m still serving in the military today. Thanks for the comments.

Thanks for the information and block of instruction. Glad to see you haven’t let your combat injury slow you down brother. Being a Purple Heart recipient myself I’ve seen first hand what happens to the guys that simply give up and dwell on their injuries. My belief is stay busy, stay lethal, and stay motivated. I have recently within the last three years discovered fly fishing and tying and it has truly given me a new shot at life and a completely new perspective of the outdoors as well. Drive on brother and keep doing what you are doing here!

My injury was actually from a motorcycle, but I’m still in the service and was able to be found fit to stay in. Thanks for you for your sacrifice brother. Hope you’re doing well.

Thanks, bro! I now make my own tapered tenkara leaders. Great work!

That's pretty much the same way I make mine. Only I extend one leg out and twist it all at once, position my ring then fold it back up. I use a 4oz weight on the end and let her go. We use them mostly for bass, carp, and saltwater. So I'm using 2 and 4lb mono. Tight lines bud, and thanks for your service!

Did I miss, which type of yarn you used respectively should have to used best? 🤔

If you incorporate a ball-bearing swivel at the weighted drop shot and you will get a better result on the back test rewind and then lay limp section as you elevate your bored

How has the fishing been? Oh and you should look into tenkara my friend.
@thehandicaphunter4 жыл бұрын
Tenkara looks awesome especially for those back country small streams. Unfortunately, I haven’t been able to get out fly fishing lately. I’ve been restricted to the local area all summer due to the Pandemic.

out of curiosity: couldnt you use a smooth-running swivel instead of weights, and keep the line horizontal as it twsts up? woult make things a lot easier for folks who dont have a slace with >10' ceiling height.
@thehandicaphunter4 жыл бұрын
That would work as long as you control it so the swivel only engages after you’ve wound up each side with the drill. Also you’d need to maintain pressure on the line. I’ve seen guys use a bunjy cord and swivel when they use the machines that spin both lines at the same time.

What is the green material you used to make the leader ?
@thehandicaphunter4 жыл бұрын
Mark Krieg , It’s 120 denier embroidery thread. You can pick up three spoils of 500 meters for less than $20 on Amazon. There’s no need to buy expensive spoons of tying thread from Uni or other companies. Just make sure you get embroidery thread because it’s poly based and will have less of a chance of mold.

How did you get the tippet ring to stay at the bottom? That part wasn't clear?
@thehandicaphunter4 жыл бұрын
Mark Krieg after I thread the line around the posts I slide the ring on and move it to the bottom. Then I start to spin the line and furl each side. If that’s not clear let me know.

I got it now, just had to slow my brain down and watch for the details.
