Welcome to the family “boing boing” ! Such a cute and fun fella. I agree on the wind knots Mr Ben.. on my furled leaders I have been able to pick them out pretty easy. Thanks for the in depth tutorial…. I definitely have a better understanding now. God bless.

Great video. Although I had a little trouble understanding how you laid out the braid along the pipe. A diagram might explain more easily. I’m going to give the single rope method a shot first. Follow up question: Seeing that you put loops in both ends of the leader, are you using a loop to loop connection to attach your mono/fluoro tippet? If so, what knot are you using on the tippet to create the loop there…

This video isn't my best work for sure.. the process is difficult to demonstrate as you can see.. I use loop to loop on both ends and most often use the braid leader for sub-surface sinking flys with a swivel between the braid leader and mono tippet. I don't typically use a braid leader when fishing topwater flys or for smaller fish where you don't need the strength like when pulling big bass out of thick cover.

@@FishTales-Reel-Life-Adventure Please don’t take my comment as a critique by any means as I have watched and enjoyed quite a few of your productions. Interesting on the use of a swivel between leader and tippet. I have never tried that!

Could you not just use regular fly line backing as a furled leader without any tapering?
@FishTales-Reel-Life-Adventure Жыл бұрын
Yes you can use just about any fishing line as leader material but generally the leader/tippet needs to be thin/clear so it is less visible to the fish..

I use that(10lb EZ Braid Spiderwire) for my tippet as well, I can get a size 20 on it, after many attempts

I'll do the same when working big fish in thick cover.. braid cuts through the weeds as well as fingers ;)

Where can one find that gear drive?

I made it from old film processor parts.. But I have a simpler process now that just uses a single turning point.

Do you have a video on it? Would love to see it.@@FishTales-Reel-Life-Adventure

I’ve watched this a few times but I just don’t get how he tapers them down in one go,the first demo I understand he has two loops a few feet from each end so there is only one strand in centre,but after his first twist he doubles back so the but has four strands and the centre 3 but how do you end up with only two at the handle end? To me it would double back to make four just like the butt section,got me beat how you end up with only 2. The second demo how do you get 8 at butt end when there is only 4 strands,how you taper down from 8-5 has me beat,would like to see how you achieved that.

maybe this will explain better kzbin.info/www/bejne/o3mvo5iAhJaIbZosi=QZmA1AIZyvD1iFjF I'll make a video with much bigger cord of different colors so you can better see what's happening.. It is really difficult to see the mono or braid in this video format..
