Early happy new year to you! I’m going to try this. I usually use slugs as my rifle is fac. Should I do a test push through with slugs or pellets as I think I tried it once before with slug and it was quite tight so abandoned the push through. I suppose, as long as something shows up any rough spots in the liner it doesn’t matter pellet or slug?

And another interesting polishing video. Thanks! I've been now polishing my Sig Virtus' inner barrel some - but the damn first 7-8cm or so still feels as if there was sand grit inside. Damn annoying. Surely the Virtus aint no target rifle - but still annoys that the first part seems so gritty and tight compared to the rest of the barrel. Has shot 4cm groups at 30m or so (which is okay by me for just being a plinker) - but I think the first part of the barrel might do damage on the pellet due to the unevenly gritty first part.. But I guess I now oughta get some 5.5mm compatible shoelace and try out that double knot system. I do have of that fine/coarse compound myself - but I think my patience will win and I'll just be using that Autosol polishing paste..

I am having problems with my M3. I can not get a stable group of more then about 4 without flyers of up to13mm left,right,up and down at 20 Yards ! Took the liner out and pushed a pellet through. The first 50mm was as expected then the pellet fell through and tightened at the last 10mm. Sent the liner off to be checked by Sportsman gun center who say there is nothing wrong with it. What do you think ?
@tyrantwitness24823 жыл бұрын
Was it Rob who inspected it ?
@bobt4923 жыл бұрын
@@tyrantwitness2482 No idea. I have now resolved the problem. I tried another liner and it was the same. The problem was that the shroud and end can were out of align causing a very slight collision with the pellet and the exit hole. Made a carbon shroud with a decent silencer and now brilliant. Anyone else who has a similar problem look for lead dust in the can.

Not for sub 12, you want the normal one if possible, they do sell out quite quickly, Sportsman gun center normally gets them first, and its worth a call to the shop if you want one they may put one aside or be able to tell you when they are coming back in. Thanks for watching.

@sub12airgunners2 жыл бұрын
We didn't do it for the video but yes the groups from a polished liner were better than a original one, you mainly notice the reduction of flyers, although the main benefits is that the liner does not get dirty as quickly, once polished the barrels will last 1000's of pellets before needing a clean, so in our experience they stay accurate for longer. Depends on where the scratches are, if they are on the bluing of the barrel you can touch them up with some wire wool and cold bluing the affected areas, if its the anodizing its slightly more tricky, some people have has luck with the Birchwood Casey Aluminium Black, you can find vids on how to do it on KZbin. As always, a great video. Thanks. I see that there was a pot of valve lapping paste when you were using the string method. You also mentioned removing grit. Do you also use lapping paste? Is this the same technique as the autosol? Thanks again
@sub12airgunners3 жыл бұрын
The pot was there just by pure coincidence, it lives on a little shelf just above the vice but must have fell down. I have used that in the past to polish rougher barrels, as it does remove more material, the method is exactly the same, small amount between the knots and back and forth concentrating on tight or rough areas, I will say that you do have to go back through with the auto sol after the lapping compound just to get a nice finish. Thanks for watching.

Nice vid and good explanation. Thank you. I got this superior 22 liner. 70 cm. Its the second that was fitted on my Maverick. Am / was not to impressed with the performance. Second liner was fitted on warranty. Still not doing what it is suppose to do. Had the liner out and found during cleaning a huge lose spot. Actually from about 30 mm from the leade to about 40 mm before the choke.... Am now a bit fed up. Did fit now an “ old pre superior pellet liner, no lose spot, nice and tight. Grouping is a lot better. The 15 .83 and the Hybrids do very well at 50 mtr. Do the 100 mtr later. Now I am thinking to polish out the tight spot in the leade of my superior liner. I do believe that sqeezing the pellet or slug through that first tight spot causes the most of my troubles.

Possibly, if its a scrap liner anyway it may be worth a shot, not much you can do with a loose barrel, and having the pellets travel smooth and consistent is going to give it its best chance. Thanks for watching.

@sub12airgunners3 жыл бұрын
I have done this a few times and never seen any damage to the crown after I was finished, FX liners don't have much of a crown anyway, the barrel end just needs to be clean and smooth, and unless you are very heavy handed I don't think its possible to damage it using this method. Great video ! How do you feel about the STX liners wobble ? I kinda think you have to be lucky just to get the good ones... 2:00
@sub12airgunners3 жыл бұрын
Yeah liner wobble is a bit of an issue, the main problem for the liners is rigidity, FX are addressing the issue now with the carbon sleeves and the fixed barrel, but having said that when you get a good liner, its really hard to beat, my best liner is at least as good as the BSA barrel, but you do have to get lucky with your liner. Thanks for watching.

@@sub12airgunners I knew it from the moment i got my .22 liner that is was a no good piece... I got my .25 liner i ordered and it is ingraved from Fx the .22 did not have any label or whatsowever. The .25 looks almost perfect for as far my eyes can see so as soon as i receive the barrel housing for is to make a complete barrel i'm gonna try it out. Think i'm gonna buy a new .22 liner because i'm sure i'll never get acuracy out of it. My Lothar Walther on the Hatsan also is not that super rigid. But with a heavy silencer that gives it some weight on the end i'm sure the pellet left the barrel before the tip of the barrel jumps up to whatever the direction it jumps from the hammer movement. So sometimes it might gives some advantage in my opinion. I already got the carbon sleeve, i atached the tactical rail to the bottle and i think that i might make a barrel suport just like the Hatslan Blitz has. But then it could be too rigid i guess. Thanks for the reply !
