The eggs are just a substitute protein... Meat and fish are not easily affordable in Ghana so the cheaper protein is egg... You done a great job with the Waakye( you said it perfectly) but one key ingredient is the black chilli sauce... 😊 To complete waakye package it comes with salad and avocado,😊
@jenniferbgorg6 ай бұрын
Is the black chili sauce a side sauce or is it added to the stew?
@adwoaboafo87585 ай бұрын
The black chilli sauce a.k.a 'shito' is a side sauce but it is always added. Only a few people don't add the shito.

Eggs, cheap easy protein. Why not? Multi protein family meal. The only thing missing is some fire shitɔ! It's a typical breakfast in Ghana, so nice and heavy, with all the trimmings (spaghetti which we call macaroni🤭, salad, plantain, gari foto? to start the day Interesting that you have a meal called gari yokor in Liberia. In Gadangme tribe we call waakyɛ (Akan word), 'yɔɔɔ kɛ gari' pronounced 'your ke gari'.

Do librarians use snails in the food when they cooking?
@Maria-pv2ji6 ай бұрын
Liberian. Liberia = Liberty is the country where many of the freed slaves are settled . The flag is the same as the american flag but with one star.
@worldtraveler24176 ай бұрын
My wife is a Liberian. She does not use snails in her food. Many of her Liberian friends we have visited do not use snails in the food. Most Liberian food are similar to Southern dishes (collard greens & rice, split peas, green beans, corn bread) or similar to Louisiana dishes coupled with some West African dishes like Fufu, Jollof rice , fried rice, pepper soup, cassava leaves, etc, and lots of hot spices. This beautiful Liberian lady knows how to cook, and her kitchen is very organized. 🇺🇸👍🏿
@brendaw.bainda17256 ай бұрын
@worldtraveler2417 We eat snails. We add them to our food. It depends on what dish you're making. We have snails barbecue, snails torborgi, etc. We add snails to our cassava leaves soup and many more. Snails barbecue is a common street food in Liberia.
@brendaw.bainda17256 ай бұрын
@@Maria-pv2ji Liberians are Africans like every other Africans on the continent of Africa. The fact that freed slaves came to Liberia doesn't mean that Liberians are Americans or African Americans. Majority of the population of Liberia is African and not freed slaves that came to Liberia.

Wakye never came with any spaghetti, because we all know that spaghetti is never a ghanaian ingredient, its italian! Its just a recent side/addition that waakye commercial sellers decided to add to as an option. We dont add it when waakye is cooked at home. Waakye meal is simply, Rice and beans with good delicious stew, because thats whats going to determine the meal, and ghanaian pepper sauce localky called SHITO, thats it, thats the meal itself, everything else u see with it at gatherings or commercially sold, is just sides or optional. U dont need to add all those things to have a waakye meal. Rice and beans, shito, and good stew with protein of choice! Simple!
