To make dolls look really different you could experiment with animals eyes ones that have unique pupil shapes like goats cuddle fish and lizards

Have you ever seen Avatar: the last Airbender? It is an animated show and has a lot of good character designs. This doll reminded me of Yue from the show who was a girl who became the spirit of the moon. And there are also the Kiyoshi Warriors who are female warriors with awesome face paint. It is a heartfelt and funny series if you ever feel like watching something to get a feel for new characters to make.

Something I find interesting is that in difference to majority, in some mythologies, as the Norse, there is a Sun goddess and a Moon god. ☀️🌙 However, loved the makeover ♥️

In Greek and Roman mythology, the sun and moon deities are male and female. Though only the god and goddess are related. The two titans, Helios and Selene, are where the romance between sun and moon comes from there.

Japanese Mythology also has a sun goddess, Amaterasu and a moon god, Tsukuyomi, who are part of a triad with a storm god, Izuna. Which the three are siblings, I find it interesting that in most mythos the sun and moon are either related (be it twins or parental relation) or have a romance, really brings home the fact that both need each other in some capacity to have a kind of balance.

Honestly, when you said you'd paint the face galaxy-style I was thinking, "Meeeehhhhh, not sure about that ... " right up until you started flicking stars on the forehead, and then suddenly it all came together and I could see what you were visualizing. This is really a stunning idea, beautifully realized.
