During progression, it's a lot easier to get all the pre-shrine talents you need by prioritising rare talents first as, unlike common talents, they can't be influenced by sources such as Mystic. I save up my aces to burn the ones I don't need, and pick the ones I do need. Furthermore, investing into the stat with the most pre-shrine talents first is an obvious but effective method of ensuring that you get every talent you need.

can you do an analysis on how much extra dmg lose your mind gives from heretic's sutra. all we know is 15% dmg buff post 70% sanity but don't actually know how much insanity heretic's gives. a useful video could be exploring a lot of vague talents like this or things like how much extra dmg scorched peak actually gives from the lightning strike

The only thing that sucks sometimes is if you wanna use a certain weapon like shattered katana that takes tons of stats in weapon but also use an attunement, so I never really know what to sacrifice to play well. But generally, yeah this is how you should think about builds!

Something I like doing when I’m starting out build stats is to mock my post shrine stats based on weapon choice, attunements, and oath requirements. For me, this helps to figure out where can I shrine off stats for whatever build I’m making instead of trial and erroring 40 different pre-shrine stats.

Hp typically comes from equipment, with good rolls you can get up to 30 hp on a single pair of boots, that stacked with all your other equipment can give you upwards of 100+ hp on just about any build. That and the drowned enchant giving another free 10 hp

As for talents here's all of the talents that I would consider to be at bare minimum good : 5 strength - carnivore (obviously necessary on any build for survivability) 30 strength - lose your mind (free 15% extra damage when using heretic's) 40 strength - unwavering resolve (really good for heavy weapons/shields as it directly reduces the posture damage you take) 90 strength - Million Ton Piercer (uncaps phys/mantra pen) 25 Fort - Conditioned Runner (free healing 30 Fort - Lose your mind 40 fort - exoskeleton (10% physical) res) 50 fort - to the finish (10% less damage from all sources when under 30% hp) 90 fort - reinforced armor (40% reduced incoming pen. Shrine of order reduces this to 20%) 25 agility - Conditioned runner 40 agility - ghost (great for repositioning) 50 agility- jetstriker 65 agility - cheap trick (10% pen whenever you parry since parrying gives you a speed boost) 75 agility - down comes the claw (hitting a crit prevents rolling twice. Extremely good in tandem with ranged or good crits such as guns, petras and crypt) 15 intel - charged return (10% more damage when *you* have an elemental status effect) 25 intel - perfect flash (pve damage) 5 willpower - Carnivore 80 willpower - Heretic's Sutra/Piercing Will (free insanity which allows stuff like LYM to activate) 25 charisma - Tough Love (10% more damage as long as you can hit your mantra's) 55 charisma - Dazing Finisher (instead of pushing back, daze your opponent on flourish. Useless on heavy due to how long it takes to flourish, amazing for combos.) 60 charisma - Manipulator (20% crit damage on charmes enemies) 75 charisma - Unnecessary Theatrics (crits and flourishes apply charm)

Actually yeah, I just tested it on deepwoken builder, going felinor (starting stats were agi and cha) and ending stats were the same, only difference is 45 int preshrine getting you master craftsman. I was bout to flame you on how the 5 extra points might've made some of the talents unobtainable but nah. It doesn't really matter that much because its 5 hp and might require more knowledge to acquire missing pre shrine talents.

Big Yap fest if you just don’t want to read it This is probably the only deeptuber I have seen in a while that has a good idea what they’re talking about in terms of build making In the deepwoken builder discord I constantly see or am sent mainstream KZbinr builds that (sometimes) have good theory but horrible application to translating theories to an actual build. however the concept behind this build has been translated (stats wise) perfectly fine (on the assumption 40str post is for lvl3 strong left to sub the lack of a good posture check mantra on gale as wraith claw is meant to be used with specter) Therefore the concept of this build on the assumption it was made for chime > dctc on a critical that’s easy to land plus constant speed boosts from inhale > base charm set with a high gaze to upkeep charm without the need for lasting charisma > heretics on gale (considering most master armors don’t have gale resistance this is just extra damage to an attunement that’s already one of the best) (I personally would have opted for RA > heretics on the assumption this is a chime build and gotten 55cha as heretics needs t2 sanity to proc piercing will & lym damage increasing at a decreasing rate) > atdg here I feel could either have been substituted for 55 cha for ccharm, lasting and ftd post but the pest ring nerfs makes atdg a viable choice as well considering gale pressure Very solid stats, im very interested to see this channel grow more

Whatever attribute has the largest number of talents, for instance with reinforced armor builds (90 fort), it already has a bunch of talents, so it should be gunned for first so by the time you hit shrine, you aren’t spend 50 knowledge getting talents. It’s a matter of knowing how many talents in each attribute you want. Like do you want 30 charisma for silver tongue only? Then go for it last. If you want 12 fortitude talents and you know there’s a ton of common fort talents you may roll along the way, it’s always better to train that first, hope this helps

for max efficiency ideally you want to make sure you get the perfect number of mantras by power 20, even if some of them arent ones you're looking for. That way you don't have to waste knowledge at the expensive shrine that converts 2 talents into a mantra. Likewise you don't want to have more mantras than needed because then you're either wasting potential talents OR you have to waste knowledge to convert the mantra(s) into talents (This strat is not AS important if you're willing to spam layer 2 for infinite knowledge, but I prefer to do as little layer 2 as possible) You can go about this by figuring out how much mantras and which mantras you need before you start the build, and then search up which power level ups give you mantras (whispers), and calculate it in a way where you end with the perfect amount. This will also result in you sometimes doing roll 2 Also, stat order is very important because with an optimal stat order it can be easier to get the talents you need, especially if you abuse mystic. For example if you're going 40 agility, its good to just go 25 agility to start and then don't put the rest in until close to the end. That way you can put those extra points into something else that has talents you require but still get all the rare agility cards you need at 25 agility, and 40 agility iirc only gives ghost which you can get guaranteed via mystic (mystic works for advanced cards) which is why getting advanced cards is NOT as priority as getting rare cards. Prioritize rare cards since you cant mystic for them and they are much more abundant

heretics increases your insanity. its good because there is a talent called lose your mind that increases your dmg by 15% once you reach a certain insanity % (usually 2-3 uses of heretics procs lose your mind)
