Im maybe getting back into the game atm, only played for war of the spark and eldraine, i was "pay to play" ie i bought gems for like 30 bucks or smth for the battlepass and a bit of drafting or smth, dont remember. Even back then i thought everyone should just always get 4 copies of all duo lands. Because the entire time it was pretty much "well i have enough rare WCs to buy all duo lands or a single deck".

Yeah, that's definitely been an issue since the beginning, I ran Mono-Red in BO1 in 2018 when the open beta launched and faced the mirror plenty of times. Quick games plus cheap deck equals tons of mono-red, forever. I'm not sure if there's anything that could be done to balance it out, other than making the new player experience more generous so people could play more decks day 1.

Was playing my Otter Ral Storm deck and got Temporary Lockdowned twice taking away things like my Artist's Talent, Kitsa, all my tokens, etc. Opponent then super overcommitted onto their board and got hard screwed by an Ill Timed Explosion. Guess they thought I was aggro and that they had slowed me down enough to take the pace of the game because they played into that explosion with some EXTREME levels of confidence.

Discard only wins when a deck can’t be aggressive enough to pressure them. Discard usually loses tempo and board development to cast that discard spell.

I just get bored playing against winconless control so I concede and go play several more games. Yes I want to win but sometimes your heart isn't in it and these decks just do that to me. One of the benefits of arena is that you can just load up another match and get back into it, and carry on! I've been seeing a lot of diverse new decks on arena after rotation so that's really exciting!

It's a matter of preference, I get that people don't like playing against control. But it is kind of soft minded, it's like, they're a part of the game. You can choose to save time and scoop or try to challenge yourself a bit more and keep fighting. It is nothing more than a masochistic mentality, and lacking self respect. You respect both yours and your opponent's time by dipping when you know you're done. You gain no knowledge by staying, your opponent gains no knowledge by staying, it is effectively watching a dead body decompose in active time. It is objectively more efficient for knowledge and points by getting more experience against different opponents than watching paint dry against the same guy for almost an hour.

You might consider Fountainport instead of Mirrex. No poison, but you can block and draw cards with it.

Mono red players seems to have a time limit. Once they get to so many turns and you're not dead, they scoop. You could even be almost dead and they just stop trying 😂😂. Patience is the name of the game, some people don't realize that it's a win-con all on it's own lol

Aggro seems to be working well for me, but anything capable of getting the win turn 3 doesn't have anything in it that can meaningfully rebuild the board, so the game is effectively over if my opponent doesn't have low enough life that I can hope to draw into hasty creatures and play through counterspells and chump blockers for another turn or two.

It's simple time-value calculation. If an aggro deck peters out and the control still has (nearly) full hand, your chances of winning are pretty much non-existent. Your time is better spent starting a new game (or five) that you likely win before the control deck gets around actually finishing you after they're statistically beat you.

I've been wondering why people aren't using Farsight Ritual to replace Deluge after rotation. It does roughly the same thing for the low cost of sacrificing a clue. Thoughts?

Deluge was awesome because the flashback turned it into a look at 11 draw 4 for the cost of 1 card. Farsight Ritual is great but without that flashback utility running it is going to cause players to fall behind on value which is risky in this format. CGB ran spellgyre because he got extra utility with the counter side but if you noticed even with that he often fell behind when casting it.

No reason to run so many counter spells for the mirror because you're so unlikely to hit a mirror this meta. Should be running impulse and the old bargain 4 mana draw card instead of the scrutiny and spellgyre to make sure you hit your sweepers and lands
