The information contained in this preparation is more than enough for me, and the list of reagents and telling what yield you had, makes it very useful!Although, I'd probably buy pure iodine from a chemicals vendor, if I don't need the other chemicals you're using for other purposes as well. There are many iodine compounds, and oxidants that can be used preparing the pure halogen, but this is a good one ! Definitely deserving thumbs-up! 👍🪄 (I guess it's a bit brief for ppl who don't have the background to know what's going on.. But, it's definitely sufficient for those who actually need to prepare pure elemental iodine!)

Iodine purple is one of my fav colors. It used to be my very fav until I met thiobenzoyl chloride and realized I love fuchsia too much

Iodine melts before boiling.

Solid iodine melts very easily, and liquid iodine is very volatile. What we see because of that: iodine sublimates

Still not sublimation, although it still can sublime at lower temperature.

"Extracting DNA from strawberries and eating it" By Nilered i recommend you to do this one because it doesnt really have much dangerous stuff (except for isopropyl dont drink that) Buy some beakers strawberries isopropyl and dish soap and you can use this as a gateway to chemistry also when you finally get to dangerous chemicals watch "Chemistry is dangerous" By nilered.

hah the funny thing is that iodine smells basically like weak chlorine, also it's basically a tear gas had to learn that the hard way 👍

How much Iodine can we make from 50 gr of potassium iodide???

Do you think that bubbling chlorine in a potassium iodide water solution can achieve the same thing? I guess that in theory it will work, since chlorine makes stronger bonds to potassium and it's going to be thermodinamically favoured. I want to try making it but i dont have access to concentrated HCl or hydrogen peroxide and rn i dont have the matherial to make them, using the route i suggested can make things simpler since its not hard to make chlorine.

Please make copper mercury amalgam in huge quantities (100g) . It looks totally metallic and it is solid at room temperature. I want to see that really hard.
