Makes me happy when content creators try each other's recipes. I'm honestly a pumpkin spice latte fan myself and wouldn't mind enjoying them all year round or maybe extend the fall season a bit more. I'm not the biggest fan of winter drinks, although I guess the new starbucks Jolly Apple Latte is an exception but it still reminds me of fall! haha XD
@colinmcillece96463 жыл бұрын
FYI, the nutmeg should be purchased whole and ground fresh. Hoffman talks about it briefly in his video, but nutmeg (like coffee) has a bunch of VOCs that break down pretty quickly after grinding, and so the powdered stuff just isn't quite the same. That's true of the ginger as well, though.
@cupguin2 жыл бұрын

Even though it produces a big mess to clean up, the benefit of the syrup, in my experience, is that it produced more than enough for my PSL drinking season. If you really are a PSL keener, or have more than one in the same household, you might have to make it twice.

I just made a batch of this last night, actually before I saw this video, from James' recipe. I used a macerating juicer and I think your juicing method was probably A) faster and B) a cleaner juice. The juicer I used had a ton of pulp, which makes getting through a cheese cloth at the end a royal pain.

Cinnamon sold in the USA is Cassia. Thick, one layer very hard bark. It is sold as cassia in Europe. True cinnamon has a thin, multilayered bark you can crush with your hands. You can find true cinnamon in the USA in some Mexican food imports stores. True cinnamon has a more delicate, smoother flavor. I like it a lot better to cassia, that is sold as cinnamon everywhere in the USA.
@SupernovaBetty4 жыл бұрын
You’ve got the cinnamons backwards. Cassia cinnamon is the more common one in the states and it’s what generally people think of here when you say cinnamon. Ceylon cinnamon aka “true” cinnamon is less common here and you mostly can find it whole, not ground. Nice to see someone make this in a normal hot e kitchen. I was curious about trying it.

Pumpkin Spice just refers to the spice blend, most recipes don't actually have pumpkin in them. A lot of pumpkin spice things are just the spice. I might try this next season, sans pumpkin. lol
@gateauxq46042 жыл бұрын
Im watching his video and it occurred to me that if you want to extract juice by blending the pumpkin it would probably be a good idea to add the volume of water during the blending. Pumpkins are a bit drier thank most juiced fruits and veggies so I think that water would work wonders to help extra more juice from the blended pulp. This looks delicious!

Having made a huge batch of this for my work here's a few tips, you can just use a fine grater disc in a food processor rather than blending it, I'm not sure if it was the spices I used instead of the exact recipe or the fact that I was trying to reduce down the syrup whilst running around but it has a really weird consistency that can actually pull a lot more syrup out of the bottle than you intend to pour
