Adrian Preda for tight joints, hit one of the parts with a rounded hammer, once parts are together and in place, moist the joint and the fibers that you hammered down will expand, filling any gaps making the joint seamless.

Can’t get enough guys. I’ve lost count of the times I’ve seen it. Trying to build a Japanese toolbox myself. Man it’s harder they it looks. Had to redo a lot of wood pieces. Maybe I’ll have it by the end of 2020. 😂 Keep building my friend. Thanks

I gotta ask. Why would you use screws. And just glue the bottom on? Seems like the bottom will eventually break off. And the screws kinda ruin all of the time spent cutting mortises.

Excellent! Editing makes everything look great! 90% of the creation of this box was two men painstakingly marking and cutting wood fiber to fit to 1/64 of an inch and (probably smaller) of an opening. Tedious work but the end product is well worth it.

Hey question about the screws, how did you account for wood movement using screws? Thanks.
@AdrianPreda
@AdrianPreda 7 жыл бұрын
In that position, where those 3 screws are, wood movement is minimal, so there is no issue with them. Instead of the through tenons, on the frame, if there where screws probably will have been some problems.

Great stuff! .. with your saw guides, can they only be used on saws with little to no set? as I assume if they do have noticable set, it will wear into the guide? thanks!
@AdrianPreda
@AdrianPreda 7 жыл бұрын
Thank you! You can use any saw I believe, it will wear a little but will stop after the set has protrude into the wood. You can see in my dovetail guide video that I added a thin plastic in order to offset the blade set off the wood. Not to the one straight you saw in this video, it was build more as a test guide and did not care too much.
