I was recently recommended your channel and love your style - thanks for making these videos - I love your shooting boards, especially the mitred one. As a Canadian it is neat to see how many similar tools we have and nice to see you Veritas planes! One Canadian company that I am still proud of!

Can you explain why the plane bottom has to have a lower portion in the middle of the material in front of the blade and also the portion removed behind the blade? Is it so it slides easier? I think of steel hand planes and I thought their bases are completely flat.

I have a couple questions, it looks like most of the power tools you use are miniature versions which would be great for small shops so if I’m right could you provide tool brands or links? Second, where the heck to you source ash that incredibly white, it looks like Holly wood? Great work as always

Everything you build turns out so beautiful. Even a small vice you put your heart in. I hadn’t watched any of your videos lately. So I’m rewatching some old ones and a few new videos. Always enjoyed how you build. 😁

Is it possible to use different planes on one shooting board or do you have to stick to the one you used initially? Thanks.

Hej! Did you made a mobile tool-suite-case sized workbench with holes for screw clamp and vice (double screw-thread)? I want to use it for repair cafe and other uses, so I want to put it on one side of my tool case (42 x 31 cm^2, and 38 x 26 cm^2 ). I've had a 2nd hand mobile workbench (Black & Decker), but cant find it anywhere, so I think about making my personal bench, looking for inspiration of skilled wood workers like you.

Beautiful shots, good camera work, nice tools. But I miss the essentials why and how you make a shooting board in this way. I am sure you because you make nice things. But please let us know why you do it in this way, how to work accurately. In the end I saw a nice video, but still don’t know how to make things like this

Does it feel front heavy at all?
@AdrianPreda
@AdrianPreda Ай бұрын
No, when I made the first one many years ago I thought the same, wanted to add some counterweight on the other side, like melting some lead :) but is really not necessary, the top itself is heavy enough and all the bench is very low.

wow, all this handmade, no machine, very impressive. Great video. You just awakened my passion for kumiko. I started to buy some tool (planes, chisels, saws) to start it. But why using the kanna (min 5:57) to thin the strips ? Is the kanna more "accurate" than de western plane you're using (it's a very good Veritas plane if I'm not mistaken) ? I do not know anything about japanese planes and don't understand what's the interest of buying one.
