You overlooked what I think is the best Quote. I believe it was the 1984 Monaco GP. It started raining after the start and Prost, in the lead, was gesturing to have the race stopped. Murray was trying to describe how heavy it was in his best English way, and James just said "It is absolutely Pissing Down!" Murray was just about wetting himself.

This doesn't even scratch the surface of James and his naughtiness! He nailed 21 British Airways air hostesses at the 76 Japanese Grand Prix. The hotel he stayed in was used by BA for it's flight personnel on the long haul flights. Each day, James would sit in reception with a bottle of champagne and await the next batch of air hostesses. In the space of a week or so, he smashed 21 of them, at times he had two at the same time. Also, he was great mates with Barry Sheen, it's rumoured that they went 'two up' on women on more than one occasion. Barry joined James out in Japan for the GP, and they are alleged to have DP'ed at least one girl.

I simply respect the determination. Because I wasn't ever talented enough to do this. But lights go on and it's go time, I'm pinning it. As a skateboarder I paid the price and I wasn't that good. But being exceptional like Hunt was, I'd do the same thing. I don't think a lot of people are able to just lay it out there and say "fuck it" like in the movie Rush, but I'd do it. Respect, he did it in real life.

When Hunt switched to commentating he was often brutal towards Riccardo Patrese. This dates back to a pile-up at the start 1978 Italian Grand Prix in which Ronnie Peterson lost his life. Hunt blamed Patrese for this & led a driver's protest to have Patrese banned for the next race, which happened. When the stewards looked at the footage over & over again they concluded (rightly) it was just a racing accident, clearing Patrese of any wrongdoing. Patrese never forgave Hunt for his actions & didn't speak to him again. Patrese himself went on to hold the record for starting in the most number of F1 races, a record later beaten by Rubens Barrichello.

@@hisSTORYF1 Oddly before the Monza race Hunt mentioned that Patrese was "aggressive but talented", who back then was a young, up-&-coming driver. The Monza race start was not helped by the fact that at the end of the start-finish straight, approaching the double chicanes the track narrowed. That & twenty-odd competitors trying to get the best piece of track ahead of their rivals contacts were almost inevitable, in this case resulting in a pile-up. As mentioned in my previous comment the stewards accepted it was racing accident & Patrese was cleared of any blame for what happened.

Mass had collected him, his teammate, and he was furious...he was wearing one boot and tried to cross the track to the infield and we could see cars streaming into Turn two and Hunt couldn't see them. @@hisSTORYF1 we were watching from the hill over Turn 3 and in those days, the inside of the turn had an earth bank and bushes, obscuring his view. We could see cars streaming down the hill from Turn 1 into 2, and screamed wildly at him to stop, but of course the noise was huge....we knew Hunt was dazed because he left a shoe in the cockpit. It was frightening, but he sat on the outer retaining wall later and put his arm around the marshal.
