I did this after watching your video and it was a game changer! "Game changer" is over used, in this case it's appropriate!

I know this video is a few years old but hopefully you still get the comment notifications. I bought some of the 6061 tube and cut to length but that seems like a lot of lightening holes. Any deformation after years of use?
@garyblevins5990 Жыл бұрын
Yes sir I’m still here just not making videos lol. No deformation to date keep in mind this is 1/8” wall thickness tubing not 1/16” I would not drill out 1/16” tubing or maybe not even use at all. Hope that helps!

@@garyblevins5990 awesome thanks! I got 1/8”. 1/16” seems way too thin. Agree with you

Tell me about your straps on these sticks and not using a buckle

I like this. Tell me more about that insert. What are they made of? Could it strip? That be my only concern.

So, to clarify, the only aspect of the stick that is Lone Wolf is the hardware? Are you just providing an example of what can be done to the original LW stick (i.e. cut them to length, drill the extra holes, and add inserts)? Thanks!
@garyblevins59904 жыл бұрын
Yes the hard ware original, the tubing is same specs as what comes with the lone wolfs I just had an opportunity to acquire all this parts cheaper than buying another set of factory line wolfs.

@@garyblevins5990 right on! Thanks for sharing. Considering doing what you showed to my LWs.

Can you tell me where you got the nylon washers and what thickness both sizes are and exactly the specs on the stainless steel insert and replacement hex head bolt. Thanks.
@garyblevins59904 жыл бұрын
Nylon washers came from Lowe’s they’re thin like maybe a 1/16” if that thick, the replacement Allen head bolt is 1”-1/4-20 thread and the stainless steel inserts came from amazon www.amazon.com/30PCs-Stainless-Insert-Nutsert-4-20UNC/dp/B077GQLQZ8/ref=mp_s_a_1_5?dchild=1&keywords=stainless+steel+inserts&qid=1587002939&sr=8-5 hip that helps!

Nice video man. Just you clarify, you can drill holes in the LW original sticks correct??
@garyblevins59904 жыл бұрын
James Clark thanks, completely at your own risk but yes that tubing in the video is the same specs as the LW sticks.

Great video. Been looking at doing something like this myself. About how much does it cost to make 1 stick? Wondering if it be cheaper to buy a set then mod them out versus buying all the pieces . Thanks again for the video
@garyblevins59904 жыл бұрын
Most economical choice is buy a set of used sticks and mod them, if you can find the steps and v brackets cheap that would be the second best method, I had like $30 in each stick but keep in mind I done a lot of wheeling and dealing and ended up with a lot of parts cheap as a result,$50-75 per stick would be more realistic from scratch.

how much weight did drilling the holes save?
@garyblevins59904 жыл бұрын
Vincent Flauto I did not weigh the tube before and after drilling but just handling them I could notice a significant difference.

What platform are you running with these sticks and how do you attach it with your pack? How do you like the versa straps compared to the amsteel daisy chain? I see you need to stack with a slight stagger. Is that due to the versa button sticking out past the stick?
@garyblevins59904 жыл бұрын
Srt Saddle Hunter I use a predator platform, I attach it with a nite ize gear tie to a loop on the front of the pack it rides under the sticks out of the way, once I get to where I need to set it I take one shoulder out of my pack to grab it. I’ve used both while the amsteel is smaller I think I like the versa straps better I don’t have an answer for why they just feel better to me using them. Yes that is the reason for the stagger!
