My name is Kaitlyn Chipps and I am a potter! I am currently a resident artist at Mudfire in Atlanta, GA.
In this video, I will be showing my process of making makgeolli rice wine cups. These cups will be going to a korean bbq restaurant opening up in Atlanta, Ga called Ari.
Ari came to Mudfire with a large order commission for handmade serving dishes. Myself and a handful of other Mudfire rangers have been hired on to help complete the commission. The Makgeolli cups were one of my tasks.

Loved how it went faster and faster, following the rhythm of the music.

Thank you for the description info! Another potter here...and I’d certainly be thrilled to have a restaurant interested in working together. Congrats

Have you seen Simon Leach talking about guides? That might help your large scale production work a lot! You just get a large lump of clay and a stick and after throwing the first one, put the stick firmly in the clay where your hands won't touch- voila! You have your height and width set for each subsequent cup. It looks like about 10:00 on your splash pan would be a good spot for a guide.

Hey Kai! I commented on another video asking about what brand of wheel you use but i thought i'd ask on here as well. If this isn't too forward, would you mind sharing a list of the tools you use and the brands you would reccommend?

Yes, of course! I use a Brent wheel. It's rather old now. I got it very cheap and very used. There are many other great brands of wheels out there, like Shimpo. I would just do some research and see what kind of wheel would work best for you. As for tools, I have a huge mishmash of what I use. I love Mudtools, Xiem, Hsin Tools, Garrity Tools, and whatever gets the job done. I woud recommend starting out with a starter kit with the basics and then expand once you get familiar with handling clay. Good luck!

Hi Kai, I love your videos so much! I wonder if/how you made your bat system? I throw four at a time off a hump, but I love what a clean meat system you have going on!😊

I use to throw off the hump! But I then adopted this bat system and fell in love with how easy it is to deal with. Although, throwing off the hump can help to deal with wedging less. The bat system is called WonderBat system. I purchased it on Amazon. I am not sure if they are still being made, but the Dirty Girl bat system is a good alternative.

@@KaiCeramicsOfficial thank you so much for taking the time to reply! I thought you might have made the bats out of cork!😆 I'll look into it, as I can distort larger bowls lifting them off the wheel! Thank you☺️
