Mead is a fermented and alcoholic beverage made from honey. Just water, yeast, and honey, the beverage is simple and one for the ages, with historical references making many believe this could be the first alcoholic beverage. Either way, it’s incredibly delicious and customizable, with the option to add other flavors during the fermentation process, as well as back-sweetening with various honeys to taste.
I’m brand new to the mead-making process, and used two different kits from Amazon that I was gifted.
I found it to be pretty easy, though a little bit tedious and a great arm workout! I have seen other recipes that talked about heating things on the stove to better dissolve, but both kits had the same directions as far as manually shaking to dissolve, no heating or stove required. Perhaps in the future I’ll make it a different way!

FLAVORS:
After emptying about of one of my gallon carboys, I added 2 T of dried lavender from my garden and 1/4 C of honey (which may restart fermentation process, so it’s best to keep in carboy to avoid pressure busting bottles.) Will update in 2 weeks.
