Going Carnivore means having to get creative and one thing I did was figure out how to make Meat Flour. I have been playing with this for a while and it has given me something else to play with in my recipes. Life is never boring but it is fun to challenge the normal.

You did a great job. Thanks for sharing. Africa, Sub Sahara Africa eats a lot of meat flour. as part of their natural traditional diet. Including Seafood flour, fish flour. It is sold at the market, every where. It is very easy to make. Funny how it is now a big thing in the US in 2022

Inspired by Sweet Adjeley's videos I have made chicken flour from chicken breasts and beef flour from round steak. I found this page after looking for recipes to use it. After cooking the meat I shredded the chicken and sliced the beef, then dehydrated it for 18 hours at 140 degrees. The blender makes a nice, smooth powder, then put it through a sieve or sifter to remove the small amount of chunks that remain. Next I will try pork loin, trimmed of its outer fat.

After seeing this video I regret getting rid of my dehydrator years ago. It almost makes me want to go out and get another one. I would as a suggestion just put it in the oven on 180 degrees which is usually the temperature for dehydration and maybe just leave it in there for 6 to 8 hours or even overnight if you put it in right before bed and take it out as soon as you wake up the lowest temperature on the oven I think is 180 if you can go lower go for it. This is a great way to use that meat that's not really as fat as you would like. I'm not particularly crazy about some of these cuts of meat out there but for making meat flour I would buy them

@@rofree2470 I did it last weekend and it did turn out great. I used the same method to cook ( all day in the slow cooker). You can skip the refrigeration part and go straight to the freezer, if you pre-freeze. Of corse, remove as much fat as you can. It cycled really fast because there is not much liquid. A $20 dolar roast yielded 3 pints of meat powder. Can't wait to make my first meat bread! I also saved the broth for gravy.

Hey there~ I'm wondering if you've made meat flour from dehydrated beef or other meats? I bought several 2-4 lb roasts on sale for under $3 lb, so I sliced one up super thin I'm drying it now. I've done this in the past, to make meat chips, so I'm thinking I should be able to simply grind it up after it's dehydrated, check for moisture (into oven if needed, as you showed here) & then back into processor for final, powdery grind. So I'm just curious if you've done this, & if you prefer one method over another? Thanks, in advance =) Sam

So happy you found us. We have an playlist of recipes where we use the meat flour. I use whatever roast I have kicking around, ones with less fat are the best. Tougher roasts are cheaper and those work great as well. It may seem daunting but once you make it you realize how easy it really is. 😀

@AllergiesBite Жыл бұрын
It would be cheaper as well, but I don't know I have never tried ground beef. You would want to be careful with the fat content is the only thing I can think because when you use a Roast you take off all the visible fat so when it is dried it doesn't go rancid. Maybe that would work for Pemmican I have never made it but I am seeing more and more people making it. Sorry I am not much help

From everything I have read acrylamide is mostly in plant based foods and is formed when cooked at high temps. 300 is not a high temp. By all means if you want to drop the temp go for it.

So thinking about your question. How long is the store bought meat flour good for? I have no idea. But I am thinking if you would take some and vacuum pack it you could prolong it's freshness. I vacuum pack my minced chicken which isn't dried just cooked and it lasts very nicely in the freezer. But I am not going for long term. I think you would have to try it, because it is a very new food idea. I believe my longest in the fridge was a couple of months.

I don't own an instapot sorry I can't help you with the time on that. I use a slow cooker and I just let it cook throughout the day until it is tender. On a low setting mine is set at 2 1/2-3 (that probably won't help much but I do a low slow cook :)) The type of roast doesn't matter but try for less fatty. Or just don't use the fat when you are mincing the roast, take that off and eat it is you want. :)

Looking at the size of that piece of meat I assumed it would cost about £20-25. I'm currently spending about £45 on chicken,, bacon, eggs and beef every 5 days and adding more to this for just 1 person in a family of 4 is totally prohibitive. Fuel alone is costing £50-60 per week (roll on summer!!!) and unfortunately I'm not wealthy. 😂👍..... I do appreciate all the effort by these people but sadly I'm going to have to go keto rather than carnivore, I will definitely not be going back to a "refined/processed diet though!

@@nowhere982 Oh you are one of the unfortunate individuals who have no other way of heating except to have to buy fuel? That would be awful. We have an old fashion style wood/coal stove and plenty of free firewood. Of course GETTING the firewood is not free. One needs a chainsaw, a truck to haul and a splitting maul and fuel for saw and truck, but we've had the truck and saws for many years now, so breaking the cost down over many years is a small fee per year. The price of coal was up this year, but we bought it back in the spring before the price took a jump. Helps to stay ahead of the game as much as possible. I hope you can have better alternatives someday.
