Those are sweet gifts to remember your Aunt. After my husband's sister passed away, I acquired some of her quilt pieces. I finished them and passed them on to her sisters. They were thrilled. And i kept 1 for me

What lovely mementos you’ve made for the family to remember her by. I’m sure Judy would be grateful that you took on the task of fully finishing her handwork. Each one is unique & i think you’ve done a fabulous job of listening to what they wanted to become!

Kristin, you are a dear person to create this tribute to your husband's aunt and gift memories of beauty and character to your family members. Your project is inspiring. And your video is a captivating visual of how each gift evolved: the melding of your thoughts and sewing expertise.

The yellow flannel piece with the embroidery flowers would look so cool with denim and made into a pouch! I’d play on the 70’s look!

Super job with the three needlepoint florals. I wouldn't have been so brave to trim them up and cut through the stitching. Fearless! )) That 's you. You give us permission to do what needs doing.

Beautifully done. And I particularly like the "full-hand" vs "squished-hand" method of measuring.

You did great repurposing all those pieces. Yes, those leftover floral blocks do look like the 70s. They might make cute pincushions or needle books. Or cute centers for crazy quilt blocks to make tote bags out of. Anyway, I'm sure you'll think of something. You are pretty amazing!

Love the needlepoint! My grandmother did needlepoint and taught it to me. She would use it to be framed, backs or seats (with padding) on chairs, or part of a pillow. They last a long time and can be cleaned if needed. She willed me a set of chairs that had needlepointed seats. They are in great shape and over 110 yrs. old

My grandparents owned a furniture store in Detroit. My Grandfather was a carpenter and my Grandmother sewed the cushions and helped upholster the furniture. In the 50's my grandmother made quilts for our cabin out of the fabric sample books. In 2020 only one remained and I was going to mend it but decided to take it apart and make wall hangings for all of her grandchildren. The batting in this quilt was an old comforter that had been patched with kitchen towels to cover the areas that had worn out. My favorite project ever.

I made a small red and white quilt from my friends mother's blouses. I left the pockets on when I could. When my friends son came to pick it up, he immediately said that he remembered his Grandmother wearing one of the blouses. It was a huge comfort for my friend.

You did a great job with those handmade items. I've done some needlepoint and the reason it gets wonky is because you always stitch in the same direction (not crossing back over like in cross stitch). So the finished items need to be blocked to bring them back to square. Very durable, though, and perfect for cushion covers. Hopefully the recipients will enjoy them for many years 😊❤🎉

A great video. Encourages me to add note cards to my UFO projects. Currently working on memory bears for a dear friend for his family. I personally would prefer not having gifts given, returned. Especially unused, however loved and treasured they were.

Years ago, the first round of Care Bears I cross stitched the bears then bordered the with sashing and made a baby quilt for my cousin. There was a needlework called crewel which was with yarn. You could border the tapestries and make table toppers or a pillow.

Hey, Kristen! It’s obvious that you were the perfect person to receive pieces! Your thoughtful and creative gifts that you made from these are sure to be treasured by their recipients! Just a thought re your mother-in-laws gorgeous zippered pouch…I think that it would make a beautiful reversible cross body bag by adding D-rings and a simple strap. Wishing you and yours a safe and Happy Christmas and New Year! Muskoka ON 🇨🇦
