I love looking at my new decluttered spaces. I often go back and just admire them. One day I hope that all the decluttered spaces join up so that there is a lovely expanse of peace and calm.

One thing I’ve learned is that decluttering and organization are two different things. I have now learned to first declutter everything, then organize what’s left. It is much easier that way because there’s less stuff and you have more space to organize! Also, it’s much less overwhelming.

I only use saucepans, and use them for everything. My British kitchen is miniscule, and I have no room for gadgets. I wash and drain my rice well, and use just under two parts water to one part rice (by volume). Bring to boil, stir once, then cover and simmer very gently until water is absorbed. Turn off heat, take off the lid and place a thick folded tea towel over the pan. It will absorb excess moisture and leave your rice nice and dry and separate. Fluff up with a fork. Works every time.

Sounds perfect!! Thanks Supergran!

Love your videos. I know even an easier way to declutter. We are doing it now. We plan to move to our new retirement home and only take our essential things to the new place. Then have an estate sale, and sell our old house. So freeing!

Perfect advice!!! I'm going to make a inventory of foods in the freezers. I want to use up the bits of food I stash for another day. I'm going to do it systematically...one section at a time. I want to set up two areas: one for smoothies; another for entrees. I'll transfer the food until I've used them up!

6:33 I use both my IP and Rice cooker. And usually at the same time! I was hoping to ditch the rice cooker bc the IP can make rice. But one of our staple meals is shredded chicken (which I cook from frozen in the IP), rice (cooked in the rice cooker of course), and some kind of veggie. 😔 for now having to keep 2 large bucket appliances.

Your point about not putting stuff away until the end is completely the opposite of Dana White's method (The Slob Comes Clean on KZbin and author). You should explore her method to see why you SHOULD put things away right away. Just refrain from getting side tracked. Make a mission to not get side tracked. It's not that hard if you make a point to be mindful of it. Her method is amazing and life changing.
@MinimalistHome2 жыл бұрын
Thanks for sharing! I have definitely tried this method, but I just get sidetracked too easily. I prefer to put things in a box and just drop them off when I’m done. It makes the ending so much sweeter 😊

We had a crock pot for 8yrs. When it died a friend convinced me to try an instapot. Never looked back!!! It gets used 3+ times a week. Ours has a slow cooker option, so we can still crock pot when we want to. We also got the air fryer attachment, which we don't use often, but is nice when we want it. We have never tried cooking rice in it, as we usually cook our meat in the IP, and I have a system for the stove top that works perfectly for rice for us. My best friend cooks rice in hers all the time and loves it. I have actually considered getting a 2nd instapot bc we use it so much!

My biggest issue is with the other household members. Nobody wants to ditch anything and it's their stuff that causes the clutter chaos! Now some stuff I don't feel badly about getting rid of it- ex my oldest daughter is a crafter and will quickly move on and forget about whatever drawing or recycling art installation she was working on. Broken toys are easily tossed as well... but it is truly like pulling teeth to get them to tidy up, make some piles (keep, toss, donate, maybe) and make a decision. They want to keep it all and it only stays organized for a day. Sigh. I am hoping this is largely an age thing they will grow out of.

I agree, hopefully they will grow out of things
