I need to get better at marketing our beef. Then we could make a living off of the cattle and the land and not so much commodity

Good afternoon, Jon. 4 inches of rain in one night is a lot. That's a nice old mower, cant beat good old reliability. 👍

We found a window and got dry hay put up. Got lucky there. Heading out tomorrow to replant beans. Cold and wet after planting…

This is the first window we've had in Michigan to cut hay but of course I had to wait because of off farm work and today thunderstorms are rolling through.

You answered my question on why you're using the old haybine instead of the disk. How come the disk wouldn't get a good cut on that matte? I guess that reel helping out for a clean cut. Heck of an alfalfa crop! We're just getting started here, the grass is decent for a change this year but the falf is disappointing so far... something stunted it, not sure if it was from the hail/snow or a bit of frost at some point dinged it. Kinda short and not as much volume as it should have. Still should probably average out. Been very dry for the past 2 weeks and LOTS of wind... gawd 😅

Yes the real is picking it up Did you have a very mild winter? I wonder if the many times this winter that it got above freezing affected these plants

We bought a 5209 New Idea on a farm I was working on in the late 90s for $14,000. Agco still makes it under the Massey Ferguson name. It was a great discbine but last I looked it was selling for $35,000.

Beautiful alfalfa. You’re a couple of weeks…maybe three…ahead of us. We like a haybine for alfalfa too but Mr discbine is a grass eating monster. The agony of decision…racing rain for dry hay. Nice you have a wet bale option. This is the time of year you need three times as many cows for all the pasture. I’d like to borrow some😅.
