Making My DREAM Cottagecore Dress with $18 BEDSHEETS (selkie who?)

This dress is from my birthday last year but it needed another moment to shine because I loved it so much! I wanted to sort of share as best as I can how I went about making this dress. Not all steps were recorded at the time but you can see it in more detail on my old channel as well!

Really enjoyed watching you make this beautiful dress, well done. I made a medieval costume for my daughter years ago and was so happy with the result. A peasant blouse, reversible corset with lacing at the back and sides, main skirt, over skirt and full ruffled petticoat underneath. It took me hours to hand sew all of the ruffles but the effect was worth it. Topping it off with a full length forest green velveteen cape fully lined, the hood was huge, much larger than anything I had previously made. I loved making each piece and the end result looked fantastic. Your video encouraged me to make more of those authentic garments.

My daughter has this same sheets and I was eyeballing it already. Anyhow, I feel the same way about bustier top I like it but there is no way to make it modest.

I have two more packs of these sheets because I thought someone was gonna buy a custom order of the dress but they never did so now I’m wondering what other design I could come up with. I love the pattern so much haha. And yeah true! Bustier at its core is kinda not a modest thing anyway but I think it’s extra hard on a bigger cup size but I’m probably just too shy for anything obviously showing on my chest haha

I have another set and I get tempted to put it on my bed all the time haha but then I’m like no it be another dress and it’s a cal-king so I’d have to order queen but it costs more ironically and now that I know it’s a polyester I don’t wanna sleep on plastic 🤣

So much to learn but I’m only getting started :D And it’s a long story that I posted on my old channel but the short version is my old channel was too much of a mix from my old photography videos and then being 12 years old of a channel and I posted shorts and I gained a shorts audience so every time I posted my long form they seemed to just get buried and not really pushed in the algorithm because a lot of my subscribers came for shorts and not long form so I decided to branch off and start fresh and it’s doing much better reaching new people! Not as this time as a few parts I just made up and the patterns i did make for myself are not user friendly or graded to different sizes, but hopefully I can get better at patternmaking to offer some someday! :) Thank you so much for watching and the compliment :)
