Just an idea, but you could reason that the robots cannot understand the music since music is a very human and emotional thing which causes them to overload and maybe blow up/ shut down when trying to process it. This could then lead really nicely into a story for the game where robots are taking over the world but music is the only thing left which humans have control over. Maybe it’s a dystopian future where the character discovers a lost guitar and all other instruments have been banned, hence why only the main character possesses this power. I don’t know, these ideas just randomly came to me so i decided to share them. Anyway, nice video, keep up the impressive quality :)

One idea that might be cool is including "biomes" in the world generation - basically just different areas that generate differently to one another. For example, you could have one such biome generate large, open rooms, while another generates those long, narrow corridors you mentioned before. This could help spruce up the world a little and add more variety to each run

Good luck boy👍✨

To store the data of the tiles you can just create a jagged array or even a string with the data of all tiles, that way you could check any tile data (in the case of the string, each type of tile would be a letter and each line would be a row of map). Another solution would be to overwrite your map with other algorythms that create these natural looking decorations (for example, once the walker has ended, you can run another algorythms that changes the dirt tiles to sand tiles and the wall tiles to water tiles). Anyway, if the problem is just place the walls, you can try to add them with the walker algorythm, adding wall tiles around him except where it has already passed. I hope this helps
@calebgilbertyt9 ай бұрын
I never thought of using a string, sounds interesting but also sounds quite painful 😅, I've had too many issues with strings in the past. Just one spelling mistake and it all breaks. But yeah using a separate algorithm sounds great!

hello caleb! this video really makes me want to go back into game dev again but i still need to find time for it I do have some ideas you could implement in future. so there's obviously conflict between machine/digitally produced sounds and authentic instrumental sound. So what the protagonist wandering around the setting, most likely some dystopian land where instruements are scarce and the prot starts out with an instrument, and destroys the robots producing "fake music". Throughout the game prot finds other instruments(find new weapons)(remember they are scarce) and some old(not necessarily) musical maestros who can fix the instruments and tune it better(upgrade weapons). idk what im talking about anymore keep making the devlogs tho
