My name is Lucy, I'm a Dutchwoman here to offer an alternative approach to beauty.
On this channel I do mostly hair tutorials where I show you how to braid, pin and style your own hair. I recreate hairstyles from movies, tv shows or history and I regularly come up with my own, which I love to share with you!
I really enjoy diving into history to find out how women went about their beauty and dressing rituals in days past. Vintage and history-themed videos are my little passion project.
You'll find a bit of lifestyle content here as well, ranging from cozy chats over a cup of tea (my beloved Tea Time videos) to personal vlogs and home & interior videos.
Enjoy browsing!
Love,
Lucy

A little tip: I find that if I spray antistatic or Febreeze (a spray to remove odors from fabric) on my polyester skirt it slides better and doesn't make the crinkle sound as much. Love your content ❤️

This really is THE perfect autumn dress! ❤️ The only thing I would've changed would be using a white fabric for the collar, since the dress already has white stripes I think that would look super cute as well 😊 Thank you for the inspiration!

I had a dress like that when I was little and it was made by my grandma haha I loved it! And now looking at your beautiful job I kinda want to make one myself (but without the sleeves). I am very comfortable with sewing bags/bagpacks and booksleeves but I am scared of making clothes. And also I wish my sewing was so calming hahah I am a sewing chaos 😆

LOVE that dress. Everytime I go shopping I keep my eyes open for something like that but I have never found a dress as beautiful as the one you made. Now I really want to learn how to sew to make one fo rmyself. However I would make the sleves a few centimeters longer, cause I don't like to have cold wrists.

A note on the collar! You were actually super close! In my experience, I find instructions tell you to stitch the top collar piece to the dress wrong side of the dress to the right side of the collar. Then you press the under collar and that allows you to whip stitch the collar down neatly and also keeps the collar laying flat. No facing needed! ❤️

My mother used to sew for me as a kid. I never had ready made clothes and I used to feel bad to be different. My mom passed away when I was 10. She was making something for me but never completed it. And I miss her and I want to learn how to sew because I feel like i can do it. (I know nothing about fashion) but I've always been interested in long sleeves and winter theme clothes but I live in Mumbai, india where it's always hot. But ya haha.

What did you mean when you said you basted (?) the parts together on the bodice before sewing it? :) Also I'm not sure if I missed it but did you just sew the front together?
@jodammerungii6134
@jodammerungii6134 3 жыл бұрын
Basting is temporary stitches, usually bigger and looser than the permanent stitch. It helps with trying things on and keeping layers from wiggling around. Basically you sew things together in a sloppy and not sturdy way. It's really handy for things like zippers, collars and collar facings, and inserting sleeves.
